Make your garden magical with these outdoor candles
By Jacky Parker
It may not feel like the time of year to be considering outdoor candles, but with Halloween and Bonfire night on the horizon, we say why not indulge now and get ready for some Autumnal outdoor activity.
Not only that but you'll be set for spring when it arrives again. Alternatively, use them on a covered terrace instead of lamps.
Brought to the UK by Jodi Curtis, after a sabbatical to India in 2011, theseoversized candles – almost sculptures in their own right – became the inspiration for Jodi to quit her busy advertising career in London and set up MAJO Candles.
Find cool ways to bring the outdoors in.
Staying with her uncle in a remote part of Kerala,Jodi fell in love with the place. One night, Jodi's uncle Micky took her to a party in a beautiful walled garden in a nearby village.Dotted all around the garden, casting the most beautiful light, were the biggest, most exquisite candles she had ever seen.
Jodi tracked down the highly-skilled artisans who make these huge candles using centuries-old techniques. And now, MAJO Candles commissions and imports exclusive, metre-high candles to the UK.
These huge candles are a fabulous garden accessory and the only candle of their kind available in Europe. Specifically designed to be used outside, they can stay alight even in wind and light rain.
Each candle comes with a complimentary chrome snuffer, to put out the flame at the end of an evening.
'Just like me, my customers love to create an incredible atmosphere when they entertain. Beautiful surroundings, lighting, food, drink and friends are essential for a truly memorable evening,' says Jodi. 'I hope these candles will transform your outdoor events, bringing a magical atmosphere evocative of that Indian garden party where it all began.'
