FAQs
When is a Good Time to Buy a Couch?
It is always well worth your time to make a note in your diary of when the best recurring sale events happen. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are often the best times to get a huge discount, other sofa sales can be found on Memorial Day, Amazon Prime Day, which takes place in mid-July (and again around mid-October), Labor Day, and the 4th of July, and of course, Black Friday.
There's even good after-Christmas sales to be had, too. While they aren't all sofa sales exclusively, these events throughout the year are all great opportunities to pick up a piece you've been eyeing for a great price.
When Are Memorial Day Sofa Sales?
While not exclusively 'sofa sales', Memorial Day can be another great sales opportunity to find a couch on offer that you've been lusting after. Falling on Monday 26th May in 2025, expect discounts to start rolling in advance of this date and even post this date too. Just don't hang around if you do spot a couch you like on offer, as it's likely not to stay in stock for too long.
When Do Black Friday Sofa Sales Begin?
Black Friday falls on Friday, 28th November in 2025, but in 2024, Black Friday sofa sales began well in advance of that date, and those sales continued right through to Cyber Monday. We expect much the same for 2025.
Are Black Friday Sofa Sales Worth It?
"Both Black Friday and Cyber Monday sofa deals can be quite dramatic, so it is really worth holding out for them," says Lindsey Davis. "I've been working as an ecommerce professional in the homes and interiors sector for seven years, and I've seen consistently great discounting in the run up and across Black Friday weekend into Cyber Monday. Typically, you'll see between 20 to 50% off recommended retail prices.
"My advice, however is to research ahead. Whether you're looking to shop affordable sofas, such as some of the best Amazon sofas, a couch for a small space or you are in the market for something particular such as loveseats, I would suggest bookmarking your choices, or putting them in a basket, then monitoring and comparing their prices. That way, you can swoop in on a deal on a sofa that you really want, and that fits your budget at just the right time."
When Do Cyber Monday Sofa Sales Start?
Cyber Monday sofa sales are a continuation of the Black Friday sofa sales, which in themselves followed directly on from the fall sales that start at the beginning of October. Some Cyber Monday sofa discounts start and end on Cyber Monday itself, which is Monday, December 1st in 2025, while some continued on beyond Christmas and into January.
Are After Christmas Sofa Sales Better Than Black Friday Sofa Sales?
"I've worked alongside Lindsey for seven years on Black Friday, monitoring sofa sales carefully and comparing them to after-Christmas sofa sales," says Lucy Searle, Livingetc's Content Director for Audience. "My advice across the board, whether you're looking for a sofa deal or simply some throw cushions to go on your new seating: discounts after Christmas are just as good as Black Friday's, but stock is often lower.
"In other words, if you've found a sofa discount that works for you over Black Friday, I'd order then rather than wait. You may save a few dollars more after Christmas, but your chosen sofa might no longer be in stock."
