"My Bathroom Was Instantly Decluttered!" — Our Style Editor's Top 15 Beauty Organizers For Calmer Vanities
Most makeup and beauty organizers are, frankly, uninspiring. Don't worry — these chic storage solutions tell a different story to help you declutter your vanity in style
Most Organized is a monthly series in which one editor, team member or friend of Livingetc will share the top 15 items on their current wish list.
My collection of beauty organizers is — by necessity — well, let's just say it's quite extensive. Some might call my love for makeup and skincare an addiction, but I prefer to think of myself as a connoisseur. A diligent tester, if you will, of anything and everything I can slather on my face. From everyday essentials to those sparkly shadows that rarely see the light of day but are kept just in case, parting with my beloved products is not something I take lightly. Or, let's be honest, do at all. The solution isn't necessarily to purge what you love, but rather to find the right home for it.
My skincare routine consists of more steps than the number of blocks I walk in my New York City studio apartment. With a plethora of products and limited space, maximizing every square inch of storage is crucial. Just like my closet organization ideas, my beauty storage must be both stylish (naturally) and practical — a system that allows me to grab what I need in a pinch when I realize my allotted half-hour for makeup has suddenly dwindled to five minutes.
The key to a successful beauty station? Strategic organization, according to professional home organizer Laura Price. ‘If you’ve got a lot of products, it’s not enough to just separate skin care from hair,’ she advises. ‘Get specific!’ Categorization is my golden rule. As much as I'd love to keep my snail mucin serum next to my favorite Chanel highlighter (they both deliver a radiant glow), that's not the most efficient grouping method. Separate your daily skin routine from those you use once/twice a week,’ Laura suggests. ‘Or keep your eye makeup, separate to your skin, separate to your lips. The more separated, the more streamline the getting ready process will be.’

The 15 Best Beauty Organizers
Livingetc knows design.
Having dabbled in beauty professionally before transitioning to interiors, I believe I can offer a unique perspective on the topic: beauty organization for the aesthete, for those who want their rows of lipsticks to be just as visually pleasing as a marble lamp or newly designed kitchen.
Curated by experts, these solutions are either personal favorites or recommendations from other professionals in the field, all with design in mind. Elevate your beauty collection to match the elegance of your home with these chic storage solutions.
To kickstart your journey in cosmetic organization, interior designer Artem Kropovisnky suggests, ‘Create a space in which you can place your tools, organized horizontally.’ While shelf pieces offer a solution (which we'll delve into later), the beauty of a tiered organizer lies in its versatility. You can effortlessly move it from your bathroom counter to a vanity or even to a mirror near your bedroom floor. Modern and chic, it's a piece that seamlessly blends into any space.
An unexpected bathroom idea from Artem is to repurpose makeup brush holders as decorative elements. He suggests using items like wine glasses or small vases, though we believe this caramel swirled onyx holder from Saks would add a touch of elegance to your daily routine.
In urban living spaces like mine, where vertical storage is essential, lofted beds and ceiling-high closets are the norm. According to Laura, 'Makeup and beauty products have a habit of spreading out and causing chaos, especially on top of your dresser.’ Utilizing all available vertical space around your dresser helps optimize storage, she adds. With its four spacious shelves capable of holding makeup, skincare, and hair products, this sleek organizer transforms your wall into your new favorite beauty station.
Artem recommends utilizing glass containers for small, frequently used items like cotton rounds or q-tips. This organizer from Wayfair offers easy access with its top-down opening drawer and removable bottom, making the brass detailing look luxurious on any countertop.
‘We all love a beauty sample, but they often end up getting lost and forgotten before we ever get around to trying them,’ says Laura. ‘So why not put them to good use?’ She recommends storing all your samples in one section to create a grab-and-go station for travel. These stacking boxes provide ample space for samples of various sizes and are stackable, saving valuable real estate and serving as your personal mini beauty store for travel planning.
For something less conventional yet equally stunning, Artem suggests utilizing his all-time favorite organizational technique: a cake stand. Its natural pedestal design makes everyday cosmetics like lipstick or eye shadow visually appealing when displayed. This geometrically stacked design by Fazeek is functional art that adds a touch of elegance to your daily routine.
For the ultimate beauty connoisseur, consider this stunning emerald green countertop organizer. Despite its compact size, it boasts eight storage spaces for symmetric organization, allowing you to separate lipsticks from lip glosses and so on. Plus, with its LED mirror that can be rotated to your liking, it's like having a shrunken-down version of a traditional makeup vanity.
While most of us prefer to keep our makeup visible, space constraints often make this challenging. Laura suggests, ‘Store less frequently used beauty products in labeled storage boxes.’ This Yamazaki box offers a perfect compromise, providing visibility with its partially open top for easy access. Inside, you'll find a series of sliding and stacking trays, optimizing every last centimeter for unparalleled organization.
Never underestimate the power of visual clutter, or in this instance, lack thereof with this organizer's barely-there look. Slim and sleek, this minimalist bathroom idea allows the design of your bathroom or vanity to shine through, holding everything from foundation bottles to makeup brushes and tweezers.
Perfumes are not only beautiful but also pricey, so storing them where they're not visible feels wrong. Artem recommends displaying your fragrances on a mirrored tray to enhance their looks. This ensures they're all in one spot and easily accessible when you're picking your scent of the day.
Organizers often carry the stigma of being plastic and uninspiring, rarely fitting seamlessly into your home's aesthetic. That's why Artem suggests opting for wood or bamboo whenever possible, which create a more natural and inviting space. This organizer feels luxurious with its eco-friendly bamboo construction, reminiscent of a high-end spa. Featuring seven shelves and three compartments, it offers ample space for compartmentalizing to your heart's content. Plus, it boasts a handy swivel function for ease of convenience.
I love creating a shopping experience within my own home. Whether I'm getting dressed for the day or grabbing a snack from the kitchen, curated displays add a touch of luxury to every routine. This wall organizer resembles a high-end makeup counter display, complete with drawers, compartments, and dividers for unmatched organization. Mounted to the wall to save space, it instantly elevates your beauty routine.
A transformative way to store your skin care and makeup is using beauty organizers that spin around,’ says Laura. She recommends options with multiple tiers and heights, optimizing adaptability while saving counter space. Named the 'Pirouette,' this modern bathroom idea from West Elm does just that with graceful spins and minimalist elegance.
Yamazaki's products are known for their innovation and cutting-edge designs. This ingenious rolling cart, measuring just 5.25 inches wide and set on wheels, holds all your beauty essentials in the tiniest nooks. I'm considering buying one myself for my compact city bathroom.
This wall-mountable beauty station is such a standout. When closed, it resembles a sleek decorative rectangle, barely noticeable yet with the potential to be decorative upon adding small items like candles or plants on top. When opened, it reveals six generously sized compartments, complete with a central mirror for getting ready. Pair it with a chair underneath, and you have a compact makeup vanity that can be easily concealed. It's magic.
