"Trust Me, Boucle isn't Going Anywhere" Says Our Editor — And This On-Sale Swivel Chair is the Best Way Into the Trend Right Now

Wayfair's Way Day sale is here and I think I've found the perfect deal for anyone who hasn't gotten their hands on a boucle accent chair just yet...

Boucle may have been the fabric of the year in 2023, but the way things are trending, it might be the fabric of the year in 2024, as well.

'So far this year, I've been to Paris and Milan Design Week, and it's fair to say that boucle is still everywhere in designer collections,' says Hugh Metcalf, editor of Livingetc.com. 'While it can sometimes feel like we're oversaturated in boucle, it's still a thing that people are really responding to as a way to bring more texture and comfort to the home.

'Boucle is having its moment in design right now,' Nicole Cullum, interior designer and founder of Color Caravan, told me back in January.’ As a term, boucle means ‘loop’ or ‘curl’ in French (a reference to how the textile is woven), and as a fabric, ‘it’s a perfect fit for pillows, chairs, and upholstery,’ Nicole explained. It’s no wonder the best designers and best home decor brands are ‘running to include it in their projects.’

Case in point? The current selection of boucle accent chairs in the Wayfair sale. It's a great place to shop for boucle at the best of times, offering a wide-range of price points that range from accessible to luxury. And we think we might have found the very best one in the sales right now, combining boucle with a swivel design that just feels undeniably luxe.

Is this the best accent chair in the Way Day sale?

Livingetc knows design. We spend hours testing and comparing the latest products, bringing only our edit of the very best to you. Find out more about how we review.

The Arjit Upholstered Swivel Armchair from Wade Logan is not only marked down right now for Wayfair’s twice-annual Way Day sale (which includes free shipping!), but it boasts a 4.5/5-star rating from more than 808 reviews. Given the amount of inventory Wayfair carries, 808 primarily positive reviews on one item tells me a lot about said, including its popularity and quality. Many reviewers called out that it's a very similar shape and style to one from CB2, which costs over $1,000.

Something I often worry about with boucle is just how practical it is for a modern family home, but this one seems to be bucking the trend. It's a polyester blend, so a little more practical than a standard boucle, and as one reviewer states, it's held up well to even their two children using it.

Not to mention a swivel chair is just so practical for a living room, especially a small one. You can use the chair to divide up an open space or divide your attention between conversations without moving a chair.

At the time of this writing, the markdown is 15% — so a total of $60 off — but I'll be keeping an eye on that discount as the Wayfair sale goes on.

I think you'll love this boucle swivel chair, but if you're not as convinced as I am, our Wayfair editor's choice round-up is bound to have something you'll like more.

How long is the Way Day sale?

This year's Way Day sale runs from May 4 to May 6. It's the retailer's biggest sale of the year, at least until its second, somewhat smaller Way Day in the fall; so if you missed some prime deals today, that will be your next chance to score max discounts.

That said, Wayfair offers plenty of worthwhile discounts outside of its big sale periods, as well, and we here at Livingetc have our finger on the pulse of those markdowns all year round. So make sure to bookmark our Wayfair sale edit and check back there periodically for the best of these deals.
