Fornasetti candles make a fail-safe Christmas gift for any Italian design lovers in your life.
The latest additions to the Profumi collection were created by Barnaba Fornasetti, with the brand's iconic motifs featuring across a series of scented candles within beautiful ceramic vases with and without lids.
Once the candle has burnt, the ceramic vases can be kept and used as decorative trinket pots or stylish storage jars.
Each bears the enigmatic face of Lina Cavalieri, Piero Fornasetti’s muse. Lina was an internationally renowned artist who lived at the turn of the 19th century and was considered ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’.
Piero never met Lina but considered her face a quintessential image of classical beauty and as a result her enigmatic look became Piero’s longest lasting theme with nearly 400 variations.
According to Fornasetti the Metafisica collection 'reflects our desire to explore and understand the nature of our own existence and the need for knowledge and truth.'
It's smells rather nice too. Its 'Otto' fragrance combines wild and aromatic Mediterranean herbs once grown throughout the grounds of the Fornasetti family home in Milan, together with the distinctive scent of sun-warmed Orris, Cedarwood and Birch which Fornasetti favoured to create his iconic furniture and art, and is laced with perfumed incense.
Regalo (meaning gift in Italian) was recently joined by Regalo Gold, bearing a fitting golden ribbon-tied design.
Regalo Gold is also fragranced with Otto; a timeless scent that evokes a sense of familiarity, tradition and nostalgia, ideal at Christmas.
COMMES DES FORNÁ
Described as a charismatic symbol of vitality and passion, the red lips are a typically irreverent touch against the strict alternation of black and white dots in the design.
The Comme des Forná candle is also perfumed with the warm, smoky and sophisticated Otto scent.
