It's One of the Best Places to Shop for Coffee Tables Right Now — 12 Urban Outfitters Designs That Feel so Design Forward
Urban Outfitters is my first pick when friends ask for places to shop for design-friendly coffee tables on a budget. These are the best right now
If you like vintage — mid-century, ‘80s Deco, or otherwise — then you’ll love Urban Outfitters' coffee tables. Not all of the retailer’s offerings are from the archives, but each one certainly looks the part and, subsequently, is so much cooler.
As a style editor, I’ve reviewed more coffee tables than you’d believe possible. So, when I say I know what to look for — materials, quality, and style — I mean it. I dived deep into every listing to create this roundup, being extra picky (per usual).
The lineup is sculptural bases, mixed materials, and glass tops galore. Urban Outfitters really excels at taking best design elements from various eras, leaving behind the rest. The result is that everything feels nostalgic yet fresh.
They are by no means the most expensive coffee tables in the game, but with prices ranging from $99 to $1,350, it’s still wise to practice a little discernment. After filtering out my favorites, I believe there’s something here for everyone. Pro tip: some gems are even in the Urban Outfitters sale section.
Urban Outfitters Coffee Tables
Livingetc knows design.
Price: $249
Was: $299
Dimensions: 39.4" x 19.7" x 15.75"
Material: Plywood & Oak Veneer
If you have more coffee table books and decor than you know what to do with, this is the table for you. With not one, but two shelves, it’s a curator’s dream, transforming your book stacks from a mess into a thoughtfully curated collection. It’s hard to imagine a home that wouldn’t suit this Scandi-inspired silhouette. Light, bright, and airy with its warm natural wood construction, each table is unique due to the natural wood variation, making it truly one-of-a-kind. Currently on sale for under $250, I'd scoop it up right now.
Price: $229
Dimensions: 31.5"x 18.75"
Material: MDF & Glass
I cannot believe this stunner of a coffee table doesn’t cost at least double. Just look at that detail: a circle within a semicircle, with another circle on top? Come on now! This is the type of geometry I can get behind. Definitely mid-century with a modern edge, this piece works with a plethora of design styles. Display your favorite pretty little things on its glass tabletop, and use the shelf underneath for more books or decor, freeing up more room for coffee or, well, more coffee table books! One happy reviewer raves, ‘I love, love, love this coffee table!’ adding, ‘It also took me 10 minutes to assemble, not even kidding. It was so easy. I recommend this to anyone who wants a smaller coffee table!’
Price: $299
Dimensions: 20" x 48" x 16.5"
Material: Metal
A coffee table under $300 with a glowing 4.5/5 star average rating? Yes, it seems dreams really do come true. I love its modular silhouette — it reminds me of a Mondrian. Artistic and ultra-modern with its asymmetrical shelves and powder-coated metal, this table comes in green, black, and white. I see it shining brightest with a bold color or patterned rug underneath — something to keep up with this eccentric style. Note that some assembly is required, but according to customers, the process is fairly seamless.
Price: $149
Dimensions: 36" x 26" x 15.6"
Material: Recycled plastic
One part neutral, one part riot of color, this coffee table is an interesting option for adding a little fun to a space. It's made from recycled plastic, which you can see in the colorful chips used to make its surface, which gives it a unique finish. Plus you can feel smug knowing its made from discarded toys and other food waste. It doesn't, currently, have any reviews, but it's only $149 down from $600, so it's worth the risk for something that could be a real focal point for your living room.
Price: $279
Dimensions: 39.25" x 15"
Material: MDF & Ash Wood
To me, this sort of circular modular wooden design is like the loafer of coffee tables — classic, timeless, and never going out of style. One reviewer said of this steal, ‘I was eyeing this coffee table for a while after seeing a similar one at a vintage store that I LOVED, but was far too expensive. I was really pleasantly surprised at how nice this one is. It feels super solid and sturdy, while also not being too heavy to move.’ If that doesn’t sell you, then perhaps the fact that it's earned a perfect 5/5 stars will do the trick. As with many of the other options on this list, this table requires some light assembly, but for style and quality like this, it’s a small price to pay.
Price: $499
Dimensions: 54" x 30" x 18"
Material: MDF, Oak Veneer & Acrylic
Mixed materials are the trend to watch for 2024, and at the rate it’s going, I expect this technique to only get more popular in the coming years. Right on the money is the Harper, which pairs espresso brown wood with the unexpected addition of acrylic, creating a surreal, almost floating look from afar. Given its tasteful design, I would expect it to cost far more — a steal in my book. Keep all styling neutral to complement its minimalist style. Stick to cream-colored rugs and minimal tabletop decor.
Price: $499
Dimensions: 43" x 27.16" x 15.11"
Material: Concrete & Tempered Glass
Having earned an impressive 4.8/5 stars, it seems I’m not the only one thoroughly impressed by this glass top coffee table. A perplexing pairing of a sphere and a semicircular textured, brick-like wall, this coffee table shouldn’t work so well, but it’s just perfect. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say that this is my favorite Urban Outfitters coffee table I’ve ever seen. Note that, given its concrete construction, this piece weighs in at a cool 137.79 lbs, so plan accordingly. I’d recommend enlisting a partner or friend for assembly. Despite its novelty, its glass top and white hue are actually quite versatile.
Price: $469
Dimensions: 40" x 22" x 16"
Material: MDF, Solid Birch Wood & Birch Veneer
Classic, but jet black with sleek lines, this table’s arcs remind me of an abstract take on Roman architecture. Its cutouts feel very ‘now,’ but for that reason, I don’t see them becoming tired anytime soon. You’ll be delighted to discover that this piece comes fully assembled — a rare treat from Urban Outfitters. This refreshing piece would look great next to artwork or pops of color to offset its stately silhouette.
Price: $429
Dimensions: 33.5" x 22.8" x 16.2"
Material: Solid Eucalyptus, MDF & Acacia Veneer
This coffee table has a secret. You’d never guess by looking at it, but it’s got an old-school lift top for storing remotes, books, or anything else you’d rather keep out of view. Its spindly legs add a classic yet playful touch, juxtaposed against its antiquey brown wood. Given its warmth, this table pairs best with bright whites, yellows, or greens — bonus points if you can situate it in a sunny room. Oh, and it’s got a perfect 5/5 star rating.
Price: $799
Dimensions: 45" x 32" x 15.7"
Material: MDF, Burl Wood Veneer & Rubberwood
I’ve never met a burl wood piece I didn’t like, and this Urban Outfitters coffee table is no exception. Its intricate swirling veneer has all the retro natural appeal you’ve been craving, at a reasonable price point of $799. It pairs well with anything, but other natural materials like rattan and warm lights and lots of lamps would make this piece shine. If that sounds like a lot of brown and beige, add a leafy plant for good measure. For a more dramatic look, opt for black accents.
Price: $229
Dimensions: 42" x 22" x 16.1"
Material: MDF & Solid Wood
This coffee table keeps its costs down with a blend of engineered and real solid wood, but it’s sleek and shiny nonetheless. I love the open shelf and the curved corners of its retro-mod design, which together take up far less visual space than expected — perfect for apartment living. Whether you opt for green, ivory, or natural wood, I can see this table thriving just about anywhere. For additional storage, consider purchasing woven baskets to place blankets, pillows, or other essentials in that bottom shelf — out of sight, out of mind.
Price: $509
Was: $599
Dimensions: 30" x 30" x 16"
Material: Solid Oak
If you’ve been struggling to find the perfect spot for your spare living room essentials, meet your match: the Juliette — a godsend of a silhouette that opens to reveal a generously sized storage cavity. On the outside, this round coffee table is a classic beauty, appearing even more the luxe with its intricate woodwork. And speaking of wood, this coffee table is made of solid oak — a high-end material, especially given this $500 price tag. One reviewer raves, ‘I’m super obsessed with this coffee table and I enjoyed putting it together. I was surprised how heavy the material is and I can definitely tell it will last long in my home.’
Are Urban Outfitters coffee tables good quality?
Based on my in-person experience with Urban Outfitters home products, their furniture often meets or exceeds expectations for its price point. However, it's important to note that as with most things in life, you get what you pay for, and in this case, you're primarily paying for style.
That’s not to say the materials or construction are poor, but it's wise to manage your expectations accordingly. I find that customer reviews on each listing are a great indicator of a piece's worth. Rest assured, I considered these reviews in my selection process, so these picks represent the cream of the crop.
How should I style Urban Outfitters coffee tables?
Given the vast variety of Urban Outfitters coffee table styles, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to styling them. However, a good rule of thumb is to let your coffee table stand out as a statement piece while ensuring it complements the overall look of your living room.
For example, if your living room has a mid-century vibe with bright and colorful pieces, you might want to avoid a full grey concrete brutalist coffee table. Instead, opt for the same coffee table in white, which contrasts nicely without clashing, maintaining a bright and cohesive look.
Besides considering color and style, adding a rug can ground the coffee table and help define the space. You can also style your coffee table with the usual suspects: classic decor items like vases, candles, magazines, and stacks of books. These items not only enhance the table’s appearance but also add a personal, lived-in touch to your living room.
