Who we are
Livingetc is for the style-minded. We're for anyone who wants ideas for decorating their own home, who doesn’t have time to sift through every cushion or curtain and comes to us to make an edit for them. We know how important it is to have a nice home life, and being in a space you love can improve your mental health no end. So we are bringing you ideas big and small, for improvements that can make a vast difference, all of which will hopefully have you thinking about your home in a different way.

Livingetc was first published in 1998, born out of a reaction to how more people were becoming interested in design. How style was being democratized, and everyone wanted a beautiful space.
Our mission statement is to report on the now and next in home design and style. Breaking trends, making trends, and offering so much expert insight you have all the decor knowledge you could need.

Meet the team
Of course, we've assembled a crack team of experts in their fields to deliver all this stunning inspiration to you, and we'd love to introduce them...
Leadership Team
Sarah is the Global Brand Director across Future's Homes Brands, including Livingetc and Homes & Gardens. She oversees everything to do with these two iconic design brands as well as overseeing Country Homes & Interiors and Period Living, making her an expert in design styles ranging from the cutting edge and contemporary to the heritage, crafted and rustic. She is a journalist of over 15 years experience, and having worked on Livingetc longer than anyone on the team, she has seen trends come and go, reporting on them as - and often before - they happen.
From working on a number of home, design and property publications and websites over the past 10 years, including Grand Designs, ICON, Homebuilding & Renovating and a specialist kitchen and bathroom magazine, Hugh has developed a passion for modern architecture, impactful interiors and green homes.
Whether moonlighting as an interior decorator for private clients or renovating the Victorian terrace in Essex where he lives (DIYing as much of the work as possible), you’ll find that while Hugh has an overarching fondness for luxurious minimalism, abstract shapes and all things beige. He’s just finished a kitchen renovation and has eyes set on a bathroom makeover for 2024.
Lucy is Content Director across Livingetc, Homes & Gardens, Woman and Home, Ideal Home and Real Homes. Lucy has written about, edited and commissioned interiors, property and gardens content for over 30 years, starting within the interiors departments of women's magazines before switching to interiors-only titles in the mid-1990s, when she also appeared on TV as the decorating expert on an interiors and cookery show. Lucy was also Launch Editor of 4Homes magazine for Channel 4, before moving into digital in 2007, launching Channel 4's flagship website, Channel4.com/4homes, covering everything homes and gardens-related. The site went on to win many early web awards. Lucy is a serial renovator – she has flipped six properties – and also owns rental properties in the UK and Europe, so brings first-hand knowledge to the subjects she oversees. She has many design heroes, but if forced to pick two on each side of the Atlantic, they would be Jake Arnold and Irene Gunter – both create beautiful homes that are inviting and practical.
Lindsey turned a love of architecture and a career in publishing, into her dream job in 2013 when she joined the Homebuilding & Renovating team as a web editor. After four years on the brand – and many hours coveting other people's self-build dreams – she moved to a senior web editor role on Real Homes, where she broadened her remit to cover interiors and product content. In 2020 Lindsey was given the role of expanding the product content offering on all of Future's Homes brands including Homes & Gardens, Ideal Home and – of course – Livingetc. She is now the Homes Ecommerce Content Director, working with our editors to ensure we meet all of your shopping needs. When she isn't finding (or testing) the best appliances, decor and furniture, she is probably working on one of her many home or garden projects to turn her Victorian terrace into a charming home for modern life. Or, probably researching her next foodie trip away. She thinks she loves a neutral color palette, but has inadvertently painted half of the rooms in her house green – probably subconsciously influenced by all of the houseplants she owns.
Francesca is the Social Content Director for Livingetc, Homes & Gardens, and Ideal Home, overseeing social content execution and strategy across all three brands. She is a social media expert with over 15 years' experience and a strong background in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
Throughout her career Francesca has worked for many well-known brands including Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, NET-A-PORTER, Hypebeast and, ABASK.
Debbie is Livingetc's deputy editor (digital). She embarked on her career in the publishing industry almost 20 years ago, with experience spanning interiors and fashion brands across both print and digital platforms.
She has worked for titles including ELLE Decoration, World of Interiors, ELLE, Condé Nast Traveller, GQ, and Glamour, among others. She is a lover of all things interiors and loves planning a makeover project. She can often be found moving furniture and decor around her house for the millionth time or else watering her 50 houseplants!
Livingetc's editor (print) Pip Rich (formerly Pip McCormac) has been a magazine and newspaper journalist for nearly 20 years, working on titles like Sunday Times Style, Red, ELLE Decoration and Grazia. He is also an author, having written both recipe and design books. His latest book, A New Leaf, was published in December 2021 and features a host of international homes belonging to architects, all of which are also filled with plants. Pip oversees this website as executive editor along with his team of writers and editors - he also looks after the print edition, which is well worth subscribing to for a monthly dose of seriously brilliant style delivered to your door.
Ellen is deputy editor of Livingetc magazine. She works with our fabulous art and production teams to publish the monthly print title, which features the most inspiring homes around the globe, interviews with leading designers, reporting on the hottest trends, and shopping edits of the best new pieces to refresh your space. Before Livingetc she was deputy editor at Real Homes, and has also written for titles including Homes & Gardens and Gardeningetc. Being surrounded by so much inspiration makes it tricky to decide what to do first in her own flat – a pretty nice problem to have, really. In her spare time, Ellen can be found pottering around in her balcony garden, reading her way through her overstacked bookshelf or planning her next holiday.
Decor & Style
Emma is Livingetc's Interiors Editor. She formerly worked on Homes To Love, one of Australia's leading interiors websites, where she wrote for some of the country's top titles including Australian House & Garden and Belle magazine. Before that she was the Content Producer for luxury linen brand, CULTIVER, where she nurtured a true appreciation for filling your home with high-quality and beautiful things. Outside of work hours, Emma can often be found elbow-deep at an antique store, moving her sofa for the 70th time or mentally renovating every room she walks into. Having just moved to London, she's currently starting from scratch when it comes to styling her home, which, while to many may sound daunting, to her, is invigorating.
Formerly covering fashion at L’Officiel USA, style maven Julia Demer brings her love of design to Livingetc’s world of interiors. As the title’s Style Editor, Julia's work reflects a sharp eye for detail and an innate passion for aesthetics. Her journey began with a strong foundation in design, honing her craft at renowned establishments like The Row and even establishing her own eponymous fashion brand. Julia’s design background is evident in the way she thoughtfully curates shopping edits, always maintaining a focus on emerging trends while preserving timeless sensibilities. For Julia, fashion and interiors go hand in hand, reflecting her lifelong commitment to perfecting the art of style.
Devin Toolen is a New York-based Style Editor for Livingetc. After achieving her Bachelor’s Degree at Villanova University, Devin moved to Paris, France, to obtain her Master’s Degree at Parsons School of Design. Upon returning to the United States, Devin began working in the media industry with Cosmopolitan Magazine where she wrote trend-driven fashion stories, style guides, and assisted on set for many photoshoots. She has an appreciation for every aspect of personal style–from the clothes we wear to the design of our homes. In her spare time, Devin enjoys embroidery and antique shopping in the city.
Olivia Wolfe is a Design Writer at Livingetc. She recently graduated from University of the Arts London, London College of Communication with a Masters Degree in Arts and Lifestyle Journalism. In her previous experience, she has worked with multiple multimedia publications in both London and the United States covering a range of culture-related topics, with an expertise in art and design. At the weekends she can be found working on her oil paintings, reading, or antique shopping at one of London's many vintage markets.
Renovation & Home Wellness
Faiza is the Renovation Editor at Livingetc. She previously worked for The Independent as a News Feature Writer, where she wrote articles on lifestyle, entertainment, news, and more. She also worked as an Audience Editor for the newspaper for over two years. Spending a few years in the newsroom, Faiza also previously worked for Sky News as an SEO reporter, where she produced stories based on trending topics. Lifestyle and Interior design is a space Faiza has been interested in for quite some time and as she continues to grow in the field, she will be diving into an interior design course to further her skills. Faiza has a background in SEO, social media and reporting. Her passion for writing goes beyond her work as she loves all things poetry and creative writing.
Amiya is the News Writer at Livingetc. She recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Magazine Journalism from City, University of London and has lent her words to beauty, fashion and health sections of lifestyle publications including Harper’s Bazaar and Women’s Health. Her experience as a research analyst has equipped her with an eye for emerging trends. When she’s off the clock, she can be found reading, listening to music or overanalysing her latest Co-Star update.
Maya Glantz is a Design Writer at Livingetc, covering all things bathrooms and kitchens. Her background in Art History informed her love of the aesthetic world, and she believes in the importance of finding beauty in the everyday. She recently graduated from City University with a Masters Degree in Magazine Journalism, during which she gained experience writing for various publications, including the Evening Standard. A lover of mid-century style, she can be found endlessly adding to her dream home Pinterest board.
Lifestyle
Gilda Bruno is Livingetc's Lifestyle Editor. Before joining the team, she worked as an Editorial Assistant on the print edition of AnOther Magazine and as a freelance Sub-Editor on the Life & Arts desk of the Financial Times. Between 2020 and today, Gilda's arts and culture writing has appeared in a number of books and publications including Apartamento’s Liguria: Recipes & Wanderings Along the Italian Riviera, Sam Wright’s debut monograph The City of the Sun, The British Journal of Photography, DAZED, Document Journal, Elephant, The Face, Family Style, Foam, Il Giornale dell’Arte, HUCK, Hunger, i-D, PAPER, Re-Edition, VICE, Vogue Italia, and WePresent.
Social
With over six years of content creation experience, including social media, PR and influencer marketing roles at ASOS and Revolution Beauty, Abla has a sharp editorial eye and a deep understanding of digital storytelling. Holding a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media with Distinction, Abla blends strategic insight with creativity to craft engaging, trend-led content. As Livingetc’s Social Media Editor, Abla curates visually compelling narratives that capture great design from a mile away, ensuring the brand’s presence remains dynamic and influential across platforms.
Abby has recently joined the team as Social Media Assistant at Livingetc. Prior to this role, she served as the Social Media and E-Commerce Manager for the Dutch start-up company, Witlof Skincare. With a background in the creative arts, Abby graduated with First Class Honours in Commercial Photography and has had several of her works featured in various magazines. Abby has a deep appreciation for contemporary interiors, which she’s currently channelling into her bedroom renovation project.
About our reviews
It is really important to us that we give you the best information about any purchases you make. This is why we aim to test as many products as we can in person. Our reviews are written by both in-house experts and freelance reviewers. We ask that they test everything for at least two weeks, though often they do for much longer.
We do not take payment for our reviews, though, on occasion, the reviewer is allowed to keep the product they have tested. This gives us a chance to add to the review months – or years – later, meaning we don't just look at how it performs out of the box but after a bit of use, too.
Everything we test is tested in the home – as intended. We like to provide as much information as we can about the reviewer's home set-up so you can decide whether the product will suit your lifestyle. Some of our tests are a little bit more scientific, but on the whole, we are putting products through the paces of daily life to answer the all-important question: 'Is this worth my money?'
About our buying guides
Most of our buying guides are created off the back of the many product reviews we do. We aim to have first-hand experience with every product we feature, but where this is not possible, we use our wider network (family and friends) plus third party reviews on retailer sites to gather the most relevant information about that product.
Some products are not suited to standalone reviews, so in these cases, we will do a mini-review within the buying guide. Many of our decor guides and shopping round ups are created having harnessed our years of design experience, which gives us an understanding of how a product will look and feel in your home.
About our product badges
If we have reviewed something in person and really love it, we will let you know with the Livingetc 'tried. loved' badge. You can see these in our reviews and also on the corresponding items where they feature in buying guides. We award these when a product gets 5 stars from our testers.
Brands cannot pay to be granted these badges, but we do offer them the chance to buy the badge to use on their own marketing material. This is always offered after the review has been written and our writers will not be influenced or paid for a good rating.
