IKEA has teamed up with Swedish House Mafia to celebrate music and creativity
The Scandinavian powerhouses have joined forces to fill our homes with style & sound
When two Swedish labels come together in the name of music, it’s a match-made in-house party heaven.
The partnership between IKEA and the electronic music phenomenon, Swedish House Mafia, aims to explore music and creativity in a domestic space, and we expect it will set the bar for music systems – and modern home ideas – in the future.
While fine details remain unclear, we know the collection will launch in September 2022 – and feature products that promote a creative flow at home. The series will focus on bringing an accessible solution for producing, playing, and listening to music.
We expect the collection will sit amongst the best smart speakers of the year (perhaps similar to IKEA's collection with Sonos below). But of course, only time will tell.
Through the collaboration, IKEA and the Grammy Award-nominated trio aims to highlight the power of music – especially in the home – along with its ability to improve creativity and make a space feel like a sanctuary. The pair also aims to make your home more music-friendly by designing pieces that will allow you to explore the industry – both as a fan – and a creator.
The pieces themselves are yet to be announced, but the Product Design Leader at IKEA of Sweden, James Futcher, has offered a glimpse into what you can expect.
‘We are very excited and happy to announce the collaboration with Swedish House Mafia. With their solid expertise in music production, we hope to be able together to democratize creativity and music production so that even more people can be more creative at home,’ he says.

‘We want to explore how IKEA, together with Swedish House Mafia, could make the everyday life easier for the many people listening to and creating music. This collection will enable people to create the perfect home studio for an affordable price.’
Swedish House Mafia echo IKEA’s ethos, adding that they understand ‘the importance of a home studio set-up’ and hope to ease the warriors that up-and-coming artists and creatives have whilst working from home. This is the coolest home office idea of the future.
The IKEA X Swedish House Mafia collection is set to launch in Autumn 2022. Further information is expected in the new year – we’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
