This former textile factory has industrial chic interiors, a speakeasy bar and a 25-seat cinema
The factory conversion comes with three self contained apartments, an artist studio, home cinema and bar. It could be yours for just £2.7 million...
An awe-inspiring renovation of a former textiles factory including three self-contained living areas has just come onto the market with Savills.
Designed by award-winning Javelin Block, the renovation has received three RIBA awards and was also shortlisted for the prestigious Stephen Lawrence award in 2017.
Offering 8,942 square feet of space, the city-centre factory conversion encompasses three self-contained apartments, a speakeasy bar, 25-seat cinema, an artist’s studio, office and a winter garden – quite the package for just £2.75m.
Inside, triple height gabled ceilings and a series of bridges, balconies and mezzanine floors give this property plenty of industrial-chic character.
Fixtures and fittings have been sourced from local craftsmen and tradespeople in order to bring the property back to life whilst retaining its spirit. Exposed brick and steel frames, former prison doors, a working industrial crane and light fixtures from decommissioned ships all add to the wow factor of the space.

The striking property has welcomed the likes of Warner Brothers, Ed Sheeran and Steven Spielberg – who filmed in the living room.

One of The Compound’s other self-contained living spaces, known as ‘The Treehouse’, is accessed via a spiral staircase and comes with its own kitchen and en-suite bathroom.
Stuart Holt, founder and MD of Javelin Block, says: “When I set out to redesign and reanimate this warehouse, it was for me and my stuff. I had no idea that it would resonate so strongly with people. Eight years ago if someone had told me that Steven Spielberg and Ed Sheeran will have filmed in my living room, I’d have laughed at them."
“When you restore and reanimate historic and industrial buildings for a living, you better make sure you get your own house in order. Three RIBA awards and being shortlisted for The Stephen Lawrence Award is a pretty good barometer, ” he adds.
Situated within Birmingham’s historic and vibrant Jewellery Quarter, where 40% of the UK’s jewellery continues to be manufactured, The Compound is within walking distance of some of the city’s best shops, bars and restaurants. Nearby railway stations provide direct links to London Euston and London Marylebone from 1 hour 24 minutes.
The property is listed for sale through Savills.
