WHAT'S HOT: A PIONEERING TRIAL THAT KICKS THE CARBON OUT OF CENTRAL HEATING

OVO Energy is fuelling a heating revolution – and this is how...

Central heating has been around in one form or another since the ancient Greeks. Yet it wasn’t commonplace in UK homes until the 1980s. Since then, our use of fossil-fuel powered heating has sky-rocketed but little else has changed – until now, that is.

OVO Energy is about to revolutionise the way we heat our homes with cleaner, greener energy, through a pioneering Zero Carbon Heating trial. If you are eager to reduce your carbon footprint, this really is essential reading...

FUELLING THE DEBATE

Heating our homes now accounts for a staggering 15%* of the UK’s carbon emissions and OVO Energy is on a mission to reduce this to zero, by kicking the carbon out of central heating.

Selected by the government to run this pilot scheme, OVO Energy and its Zero Carbon Heating trial is a big chance to rethink the way we heat our homes.

By swapping heating powered by fossil fuels for low carbon technology powered by electricity, we can make home heating systems greener, cleaner and safer - helping protect the planet now and for future generations.

OVO Energy is looking for 250 homes to take part in the Zero Carbon Heating trial, across South East England, utilising smart technology to make these homes more energy efficient and help the UK fight the climate crisis.

Those selected to take part in the Zero Carbon Heating trial will be provided with up to £15,000 worth of free tech per home – from the latest heat pumps and thermal batteries to home efficiency improvements – everything they need to start the transformation towards zero carbon living.

The trial will lead the way in getting the nation to swap gas for cleaner, safer and easier to use low carbon heating systems. So those that sign up will have homes that are fit for the future.

THE OVO WAY

OVO Energy has been championing clean, affordable energy since its launch in 2009, and won a stack of consumer awards since then too. Through its refreshing approach and clever innovations, it has the green energy and technology needed to kick the carbon out of central heating.

It’s all part of OVO Energy’s ultimate goal, which is to help its members halve their own carbon footprints by 2030. But it’s impossible for them to get there alone.

The more of us there are, the quicker we can lower our collective carbon emissions with clean, affordable energy, and reduce those planet-polluting greenhouse gases.
