ORLA KIELY is back with a gorgeous new furniture collection

After a brief hiatus from the High Street, Orla Kiely has returned with a beautiful new collection of upholstered furniture, available exclusively through Barker & Stonehouse.

Be the first to see the collection and meet the Irish print designer at the launch on Saturday 9th March at Barker & Stonehouse, Guildford.

Renowned for her bold use of colour and pattern, Orla Kiely’s designs have won a legion of fans, including the Duchess of Cambridge. Her iconic motifs have appeared on stationery, kitchenware and even cars.

We spoke to Orla Kiely about the new collection. 'It feels like I've never been away as our home, watch and jewellery business have all continued to trade. Doing upholstered furniture seemed a natural next step in offering our customer a complete look for their homes. It's something we have often been asked to do and I am thrilled we have been able to bring it to life,' she said.

For this first ever upholstered Orla Kiely furniture range, the design team meticulously explored Orla’s extensive pattern archive, hand-selecting a striking array of prints that would form the base of the collection.

Channelling the signature mid-century aesthetic synonymous with the designer, the collection features furniture for bedrooms and living spaces, with a versatile range of cocktail chairs, sofas, footstools and even a bedframe, all upholstered in Orla’s signature patterns and iconicretro palette.

Orla adds, 'Barker and Stonehouse was the natural partner to launch with as I love the family history of the brand. The stores are inspirational and offer customers fantastic design ideas and creative room sets.'

The Orla Kiely collection will be available on the Barker and Stonehouse website and from select stores across the country.

The event on Saturday 9th March (held at Barker & Stonehouse, Ladymead, Guildford, GU1 1DL), will include a Q&A with Orla herself, which will provide an insight into the inspiration behind the furniture collection, decorating and interior design tips and a chance to hear about her career in design.

Orla will also be on-hand to sign copies of her book, A Life in Pattern, the release of which coincided with the 2018 retrospective of her work at The Fashion and Textiles Museum.
