Sneak peek at next summer's outdoor homeware

We all love spending time outdoors during the summer and warmer months, but if you needed any more convincing that outdoor living is a big thing, the organiser's of Salone del Mobile, the design industry's annual mecca for trends and new launches, is about to host a new event dedicated to outdoor furniture and accessories.

HOMI OUTDOOR takes place 13-16 September at the Fiera Milano, with the focus on current trends in outdoor living.

Responding to the increasing demand for stylish furniture, rugs, cushions, lights, not to mention cooking equipment that's suitable for an al-fresco lifestyle, Italian and international designers will be showing outdoor wares that are as well-designed as the sofas, dining tables, flooring and lamps we'd choose for the indoors.

The blurring of the lines between inside and outside means no-one wants bland, chunky 'garden' furniture. We want to make our garden, balcony or terrace as stylish as our home, albeit with shower-proof fabrics or shatter-proof tableware.

Even shelving, whether wooden or metal, can be used to house a vertical garden, with small pots of climbing plants or aromatic herbs that cling to the structure itself

Noticing these buying trends, the organisers state that colours are particular important when designing an outdoor space too, adding, 'The chosen colour scheme can set the tone for a balcony or terrace, with neutral colours inspiring minimalism and elegant modernity, while a bright palette, of South-American influence can make for a fun outdoor space.'

Open only to the trade, this event is where some of our favourite retailers will be buying their Spring-Summer 2020 collections. So with that in mind, take a sneak peek at what will be on offer - it's what you can expect to be coming to a store near you next Spring...
