Livingetc Verdict

Admittedly, the Cozy Earth Luxe Bath Robe isn't the cheapest option on the market. But with the luxury price tag comes luxury quality, and you'll struggle to find a robe warmer or cozier than this one. The material is clearly high quality and has a supremely thick, plush feel. But while this makes it perfect for the colder months, come summer, this robe might be a touch too warm for daily use.

From the brand's bamboo bedding to its iconic bubble cuddle blanket, Cozy Earth has had its fair share of viral moments, and for seemingly good reason, too. Their products are well-loved by celebrities and Livingetc editors alike.

But while we know the brand's blankets and bedding are second-to-none, we were unsure as to whether their bathrobe would meet the same standards.

So, when Cozy Earth offered to send one my way, I gladly accepted. I decided I'd take one for the team and test their Luxe Bath Robe— it's a tough job, I know. And after a week of pretty much exclusively wearing this robe, it's safe to say I have some thoughts.

First Impressions

To describe this robe as feeling like being hugged by a cloud seems like a horrible cliche, but I dare you to try it on and have anything else to say.

The first thing I'll note about this purchase is not to do with the robe itself at all, but the process of receiving it. Despite coming all the way from the US, the timeline from placing my order to wrapping myself up in the robe post-bath was less than a week in total, which is pretty impressive given how long typical shipping times from the US to the UK can take.

And having just recently watched a TikTok of a content creator explaining how making her robe part of her routine for dark mornings has helped her beat the winter wake-up blues, this Cozy Earth bathrobe could not have come at a better time. Her logic seemed sound. One of the hardest parts of exiting the safe refuge beneath my duvet is the inevitable cold chill I know is waiting for me on the other side, so having something to mitigate this was an appealing idea.

And as soon as it was in my hands, I knew this Cozy Earth robe was going to do the trick. It's impressively thick, I'm talking two regular bathrobes stacked on top of each other, thick, and supremely fluffy too. It's kind of the platonic ideal of the bathrobe, and to be honest, it made my worn-out White Company robe look a bit sad in comparison.

But while the comfort was next level, there was one immediate downside to my new bedtime uniform. Before I'd even gotten the robe out of the plastic packaging, I could see a rogue thread floating around in there with it, an ominous sign I thought at the time. And later that night, my suspicions were confirmed. As I applied my various potions and lotions, I was continuously finding spots of fluff littering my face — an unwelcome new layer in my nightly skincare routine.

And when I peeled myself out of bed the next morning (yes, I did wear the robe into bed, I told you it was comfortable), there it was again. A layer of brown cotton thread, scattered across the surface of my white sheets. However, this issue did seem to calm down after the initial few days of wear, but it is something to potentially bear in mind.

The Style

In terms of visual appeal, there's not much more you could ask for from a bathrobe. It has that perfect spa look, but the quality is leaps beyond what you'd find at even the best design hotels.

It comes with an adjustable waist tie and two generously sized pockets on either side. The only amendment I would make is the lack of a hood. Now, while some may disagree, I feel that for optimal coziness, a hood has to be invited to the party. However, I do accept that the collared, hoodless look is perhaps more classic, so I'm willing to take this point as a matter of personal preference as opposed to a failing on the part of the robe.

Customers can choose from seven different colorways, including the classic, crisp white, a charcoal-y grey, and a soft baby pink shade. Beyond the block color offerings, there are a further four striped designs on offer, too. I opted for the newest of the designs, the super luxe-looking Espresso Coconut Stripe. And I've got to say, I haven't regretted my decision for one minute. The deep chocolatey brown tone gives the robe an even richer, luxurious look. It feels more grown-up than a white robe and has a real private members club feel to it.

I spent some time umming and ahhing over whether to go for an M or an L, as I knew I'd want it to be slightly oversized, and at 5'10", most things tend to run slightly too short for me. However, on account of this being a unisex fit, I opted for the M instead and have been very satisfied with my decision. While I'm sure the L would have been fine, the M is the ideal oversized fit for me, so if you're flip-flopping between sizes, I'd recommend sizing down.

The Feel

As I've mentioned a fair few times now, this robe is ridiculously comfortable. It's soft, thick, and cozy. And as much as this makes me love it, it should be noted that this could be a potentially off-putting factor to others.

If you're looking for the kind of lightweight, breathable robe you can throw on as soon as you get out of your shower room, and can keep wearing all year round, this might not be the robe for you. Due to its thickness, this is not the robe you want to use in lieu of a towel. Instead, it serves better as a kind of intermediary situation, for when you're not quite ready to put on your pyjamas but no longer need to be in your towel.

Or, if you're anything like me, this might just serve as your catch-all home outfit. If I'm being completely honest, since owning this robe, I've spent more time in it than I have out of it. First thing in the morning, I'm wrapping myself up in my robe, then as soon as I'm back home and out of my outside clothes, I'm back in the robe. It's become a uniform of sorts.

Post Wash

I'll admit, I was slightly apprehensive to throw my robe into the washing machine, having already formed such a strong attachment to the extreme fluffiness of the material. However, I was delighted to find that post-wash, my robe remained just as comfortingly cozy as it had before.

As per the biggest bath towel mistakes to avoid, I purposefully steered clear of using any fabric softener in this wash. With high pile materials like this, any kind of detergent can begin to build up within the fibres of your robe, creating a rougher texture.

I then proceeded to tumble dry my robe on low, as recommended on the Cozy Earth website. Once it was out of the dryer, a thorough shake to fluff up the fibres again was all that was needed to bring my robe back to its original state.

Is It Worth It?

Now for the part I've been putting off telling you: this robe usually retails for £170/$148, but is currently on sale!

Is that a lot of money for a robe? Maybe for some. But does it feel worth it? Don't hate me, but... I think it does.

Let me make my case. If I continue to wear this robe with the voracity I have thus far, I can't help but think it would be one of the most worthwhile purchases I could make. Compared to a winter coat, which I would easily spend the same, if not more, on, I'd undoubtedly get more wear out of this. And if you're looking at things with a cost-per-wear perspective, this robe practically pays for itself.

Now, can you get other robes for lower prices? Of course you can, but you will feel the difference. Before this beauty entered my life, I'd been using the same White Company for the past few years, and honestly, I was delighted with it. And at only £70, it's a fraction of the price.

However, now that I look at it next to my new, gorgeous robe, they're in two different leagues. My Cozy Earth robe is practically double the thickness of my older model, and the coziness I feel in it is unmatched.

It may not be a budget buy by any means, but if you're looking for the perfect present for a loved one (or for yourself), this should be at the top of the list. But if you need even more present inspo, just take a scroll through our epic winter Fifty, make sure your wallet is prepared.
