We have long held up the designs of Cattelan Italia as contemporary heroes. Since launching in 1979, the Italian power brand has crafted collection after collection of strikingly beautiful modern furniture for living rooms and bedrooms.
"It's the fascinating use of materials that makes us such fans of Cattelan Italia," says Livingetc's editor, Pip McCormac. "From the lacquered steel and walnut of the Tokyo statement storage designed in 2016 to the smoky glass of the show-stopping Sablier pendant, I'm always drawn to how clever the brand's choices feel."
Zuleika chairs
This year's launches are just as covetable. The Zuleika chairs, designed by Archirivolto, are architecturally striking, yet rounded and soft enough to feel inviting, playing into the trend for boldly shaped dining furniture we've seen develop this season. The leather the seat back and cushion is stitched in is supple and soft.
Lavander sideboard
The ridged texture of the Lavander sideboard, designed by Paolo Cattelan, creates a pleasing effect as the light dances across its surface. Available in brushed grey, brushed bronze, matte graphite and titanium, it's a modern take on the 1970s resurgence, where geometrics come out to play and sideboards are no longer side lined.
Freeway modular bookcase
The Freeway modular bookcase can be wall hanging or ceiling hanging, meaning it can become a partition for a broken-plan way of life. Designed by Giorgio Cattelan, made from wood and smoked glass, it brings a true feeling of sophistication to a modern living room, a large dose of Italian glamour.
