The crowning jewel of your Christmas decorations just got even chicer. While traditional tree toppers will never go out of fashion, they aren’t slowing down this year’s fling with uniquely themed tree toppers. These pieces stand as a fearless focal point and allow you to have pure indulgent fun – because is the festive season, after all.

But what does this alternative Christmas tree idea involve? According to Etsy’s Trend Expert, Dayna Isom Johnson, unconventional tree toppers are anything that differentiates from traditional toppers, such as the angel or star.

‘People are really starting to experiment with something new at the top of their tree, whether it be a cute animal like this Elephant Tree topper or going personalized like the wire topper from the LetterLoft,’ Dayna explains. However, this trend is perhaps only natural in a year when bold hues and daring designs are set to shape festive interior design trends

This festive season it’s all about the expanded color palette, bright and bold colors will be a staple this Christmas,’ Dayna says. ‘On Etsy, we have seen a 47% increase in searches for colorful, pastel, or neon holiday items, and a 41% increase in searches for jewel-toned [pieces],’ she explains.

And if Etsy’s stats weren’t telling enough, Lucy St George, the Co-founder of Rockett St George, similarly observed the unconventional trend that is set to be big news this Christmas.

‘Whilst a traditional gold star will always look gorgeous at the top of your tree, we’re loving an alternative approach to tree toppers for 2021,’ she adds. ‘As the perfect final flourish to your decorating theme, if your tree is filled with colorful and eclectic decorations, then a quirky tree topper is the one for you.’

If you’re looking for a stylish solution to this Christmas decorating idea, then Rockett St George’s tree topper range is right on cue. Our favorites include their lush pink lips, gold leopard, and disco ball (becasue they are the fashion-it crowd accessory, of course).

‘These tree toppers not only complete your theme but also draw the eye to the top of the tree to help fill the room with personality and fabulous, festive flair,’ Lucy adds.

Martin Waller, the founder of Andrew Martin, similarly offers his tree topper styling tips, suggesting that you begin with a base of rich autumnal and wintery colors that will allow the themed tree topper to truly pop.

It’s time to crown your tree in style.
