It's that time of year when our thoughts turn to enjoying our outside space and brushing up the exterior of our homes – which suddenly become much more noticeable throughout the longer days. Whether for you that's a balcony, bijou terrace or sprawling garden, there are a few small moves that will make a big difference.
As plants and planting are back in fashion – not to mention good for our well-being – it makes sense that investing in some new planters is an easy and enjoyable spring update for our homes and gardens. This humble outdoor accessory has had something of an overhaul too, and there are a raft of cool concrete style planters that will give your greenery a modern edge.
Our edit of planters would look just as good indoors, on a kitchen window sill or a conservatory floor, as they would on a patio or terrace too.
Plant a herb garden, so you can sprinkle freshly chopped chives, mint, tarragon or other easy to grow flavours onto summer salads, buttered Jersey Royals or barbecued chicken.
Or pot up these planters with your favourite bulbs. Hyacinths and Hydrangeas are the blousy blooms of the moment, and enjoy living outdoors. If flowers are a green finger too far, palms and ferns can be pretty low maintenance and love a shady or sheltered spot in the garden.
So choose your pot and get planting.
