A floating city in Iran, tree houses in Mexico and a giant wind turbine in the centre of New York Cityhave all been shortlisted for awards at this year's World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2018 – the largest architectural awards programme on the planet.
The2018 awards shortlist features 536 extraordinary projects, ranging from small family homes, to schools, stations, museums, large infrastructure and landscape projects.
This yearthe WAF Awards saw more participation than ever before, with more than 1000 entries received from projects located in 81 countries across the world.Major world architects are competing against many smaller practices.
The winners will be revealed at the 2018 World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam in November, wherethe shortlisted teams will present their designs to a jury of more than 100 international judges.The chosen finalists will then move on to present to the 2018 Super Jury which will determine the winners of the 2018 World Building of the Year, Future Project of the Year, Interior of the Year and Landscape of the Year.
Although all the projects bring something new and exciting to the table, there are ten projects that stood out here at Livingetc HQ.
