It goes without saying that living in a stylish home is important to us at Livingetc, and to you, our readers. However, feeling safe and secure is truly the No.1 priority - yet it’s not always something we give sufficient thought to.

Having invested in our homes and turned them into our sanctuaries, it makes sense to protect them - and our loved ones - not to mention our belongings, whether precious family heirlooms, prized finds or even personal data - in as simple and smart a way as possible.

Our devices are more valuable than we realise, holding confidential information such as financial details, important documents, and sentimental photos, videos, and memories, making them hard to replace.

According to home security experts Ring, a third (33%) of Brits would be worried about the personal information stored on devices, were they stolen, and 31% are concerned about the loss of meaningful documents or photos.

It’s not just our personal devices either, WFH is here to stay, and three in five (60%) are concerned about keeping work devices safe too.

For this reason, Ring reports that half of Brits (49%) buy home security devices because they want general peace of mind and a sense of security.

As the nights draw in, it’s comforting to see who’s at the door before you open it or check whether the noise outside is just a local puss or wily fox on the prowl.

Ring’s range of sleek devices are designed to improve home security, whilst being convenient and easy-to-use.

Its nifty features enable you to connect its video doorbells, outdoor floodlight cameras, indoor cams and an alarm to a single dashboard, and control everything through the Ring app - with enhanced privacy safeguards for users.

It’ll even automatically activate sirens on select security cameras if triggered by motion.

In fact, it’s much more than home security. Perhaps you’re back in the office and want to check that elderly relatives are safe or to see how your four-legged friends are doing?

Ring finds that four in ten (41%) have cancelled plans since restrictions were lifted to avoid leaving pets at home alone. With home security, you can see if they’re snoozing or amusing themselves.

There’s a host of options to suit the size and style of your home, living arrangements or budget. From £2.50 per month, the Ring Protect Basic Plan covers one video doorbell or security camera, recording the footage captured by your device and saving it to your account for up to 30 days, (with privacy encryptions) so you can review, download or share it with friends, family or neighbours.

Another clever piece of kit that integrates seamlessly with the Ring Alarm system, this adjustable outdoor siren can be customised to suit and controlled via the Ring app.

Plus built-in LEDs flash red when the alarm is triggered, to alert you and your neighbours to a potential security issue. Its Dusk to Dawn feature means you can use the siren as an everyday security sign, illuminating white at night time for extra visibility and an added layer of security.

Dave Ward, Managing Director of Ring for Europe, comments: “Our homes hold so much more value than just bricks and mortar. For many it’s our safe space, home to sentimental objects, treasured memories, and storage for our personal belongings.

Over the past 18 months, our relationship with home has changed - from becoming our work space or school, to acting as a safe haven for loved ones and pets alike. It's so important not to become complacent when it comes to staying connected to our homes.”

Whatever your circumstances, create a Ring of Security around your home and rest easily, whether you’re at home, at work or out having fun.
