Curated Finds for Sue | Transitional Rugs
Hi Sue,
Inspired by your brief, I’ve taken a broader approach here as there wasn’t much detail around the size, color palette or existing furniture in the room.
Rather than guessing too narrowly, I’ve chosen three different directions within a transitional style: one with a cleaner linear pattern, one that feels a little softer and more relaxed, and one that leans into natural texture. The idea is to give you a few distinct starting points and help you see which material and overall look feels most at home in your living room.
I’d definitely have a look through Weaver Green. They have some really beautiful patterns at a very reasonable price point, and because so many of their rugs are washable and designed to handle everyday life, they’re a great option if you want something practical.
This is the most structured option of the three. The linear pattern gives it a cleaner, more tailored feel, while the jute / wool and cotton blend keeps it warm and tactile. I like this for a transitional room because it bridges classic natural materials with a more contemporary pattern really easily. It also comes in sizes up to 300 x 400cm, so there’s plenty of flexibility depending on the scale of your seating area.
This is the practical one, but it doesn’t look overly functional. The kilim-style stripe gives it character, while the flatweave construction keeps it relaxed and easy to live with. Made from 100% recycled plastic, it’s suitable for indoor or outdoor use and can be machine washed.
As mentioned above, I’d also have a look through Weaver Green’s wider range. They have some really beautiful, design-led patterns at a reasonable price point, so there’s plenty of room to find something that suits your space.
This is the softest, most organic direction. The wool and jute combination brings in warmth and texture, which is especially useful if the room already has cleaner-lined furniture or harder finishes. I like this as the more understated choice — it won’t dominate the scheme, but it will give the room that layered, grounded feeling a transitional space needs.
