Curated Finds for Louise | Antique / Vintage Wall Sconces
Hi again Louise,
Inspired by your brief, I’ve focused on pieces that feel as though they could have been collected over time, instead of anything too polished or overly new. With your dusty mauve walls, dark green sofas and walnut furniture, I think aged brass, burgundy ceramic and warmer antique finishes will sit beautifully against the deeper autumnal palette.
Because this is a darker corner without nearby sockets, I’ve included both candle sconces and a rechargeable wall light. The candle options are more decorative and atmospheric, while the rechargeable fitting gives you a proper pool of light without needing to run new electrics.
This is the cleanest of the candle-sconce options, but it still has enough sculptural character to stop it feeling too neat. I like the balance of the simple wall-mounted form with the more decorative silhouette, it feels contemporary enough to sit with your art, but still has that slightly old-world quality you’re drawn to.
At around £45, it’s also an easy way to introduce atmosphere without committing to something overly ornate.
This is the one I’d choose if you want something that genuinely looks as though it has a story behind it. The aged brass, mirrored back and botanical detailing give it that collected, slightly faded Hollywood Regency feel, and I think it would look especially good against the mauve-toned wall.
Because it’s vintage, the patina is really part of the appeal here. If you’re in the UK, delivery starts from around £20, so I’d just factor that into the overall budget.
This is probably the most personal fit for your colour palette. The rich burgundy ceramic would pick up beautifully on the plum and autumnal tones you already love, while the handmade quality keeps it from feeling too slick.
I also like that this introduces colour through an object rather than another textile. It feels a little unexpected and very in keeping with your mix of bohemian, maximalist and more traditional pieces. The listing currently appears to include free delivery to the UK.
This is the most practical option, but it still has the right character. The antique brass finish gives it warmth, and because it’s rechargeable, there’s no need for a nearby socket or for an electrician to wire it in.
It fixes to the wall with two small screws, is dimmable, gives around 10 hours of light, and has a warm 3000K glow. At 13cm high and 14.5cm wide, it’s also compact enough for a partition wall and won’t feel too heavy visually.
