Curated Finds for Davis | Statement Speakers
Inspired by your brief, I’ve focused on speakers that actually deserve to be seen. With a home that leans 70s and retro, I wouldn’t try to hide the tech away, I’d treat it like another design object in the room.
The three options here all do that in different ways. One feels almost jewel-like, one has a cleaner mid-century feel through oak and brass tones, and one leans more tactile and sculptural. They all sit comfortably within a maximalist or design-led space, but still feel refined enough to live with long term.
I’d also lean into the idea of making the speaker a focal point instead of pushing it into a corner. Livingetc has written about how the best rooms often have one unexpected element that interrupts the usual rhythm and starts a conversation, and I think a beautifully designed speaker can absolutely do that.
This one leans fully into the 70s side of your brief. The amplifier-style casing, tactile controls and bold colour (also available in black) make it feel more like part of the room than a piece of tech, especially in the orange finish. I’d use it on a sideboard or open shelving where its bold shape and retro detailing can become part of the styling. It’s also the most affordable option in the edit at £349, so it gives you the look without using the full budget.
This is the most statement-making option. The gold finish and sculptural shape feel almost like a decorative object first and a speaker second, which makes it perfect for a retro-inspired room where you want the tech to have real presence. I’d place it somewhere visible rather than hiding it on a shelf. It also comes in 'Deep Black' colour which is beautiful.
This one feels especially right if you want something a little calmer. The light oak and gold-tone finish give it a warm, mid-century quality, and the slim profile means it can sit beautifully on a console or bookshelf without looking like a bulky piece of tech.
This is the most tactile of the four and sits at a slightly higher price point, but it’s anything but conventional. The woven finish and compact form make it feel more like a beautifully made object, and I love how it brings texture into the room instead of another hard, glossy surface.
