A living room is one of the hardest spaces in the home to get right. Often one of the largest rooms in a property, it has to work hard to be many things at once — a space to kick back and relax, a place to socialize with friends and family, and a place to host visitors, too — and your furniture and decor choices play a big role in the success of the space.

But creating an elevated modern living room that ticks all the boxes doesn't have to mean a big budget — it all comes down to being intentional. And I've found the best IKEA products, new to the Scandi brand's offering, that not only marry style with function, but also look way more expensive than they actually are.

From the VINDKRAFT Lamp, a sculptural table lamp that looks one-of-a-kind, to the TRANERED Coffee Table, a sophisticated coffee table with a wonderful amount of hidden storage — these are the five products, from a huge list of newly released products, that will instantly elevate your living room.

1. VINDKRAFT Table Lamp

"I’m a big believer in layering our homes with lamps that look just as beautiful switched off as they do on. The Vindkraft does exactly that," says Miaad Latoof.

Quite frankly, I cannot fathom that the VINDKRAFT Table Lamp costs less than £20. Crafted from molded paper pulp, it has an artisanal feel to it that reads far more expensive than it is.

Design Lab stylist Miaad Latoof agrees, saying, "Its sculptural silhouette and softly ribbed paper pulp finish introduce an organic texture to a surface, almost like adding another piece of decorative art.

"Use it to break up harder lines and smoother finishes on a console or sideboard. Placed next to a lacquer surface or even wood, its softer, irregular texture creates the contrast that makes a styled surface feel more tactile and ultimately more elevated."

2. SANELA Dark Brown Curtains

These velvet curtains add texture and cozy warmth, and would work well in both traditional and contemporary spaces.

While the SANELA curtain range has been around for a while, this dark brown colorway is a new addition and, in my opinion, is the most stylish of the collection — not to mention an ideal choice as we head towards the cozy season.

When it comes to buying curtains, you need to think of them beyond just their decorative element, and instead how they can completely transform the feel of a space. Floorlength curtains, such as this pair from IKEA, can visually elongate the height of a room, making the space feel grander, while the deep, rich brown tone adds depth and drama.

Crafted from luxurious thick velvet which helps the curtains hang elegantly, they add warmth and style to a space while also functioning to dampen sound and soften light.

3. TRANERED Coffee Table

Another dark brown number, the well-sized (90 x 90 cm) and modern TRANERED Coffee Table has an ash veneer with a wood-grain finish that adds both interest and a more natural feel, looking as stylish as it is practical.

What I love about this coffee table is the two sneaky hidden storage compartments, revealed by horizontal hatches, for storing remotes and other clutter that might otherwise ruin the vibe of your coffee table styling for a more streamlined, elegant space.

The table's raised edges also stop any items from sliding off in a neat, tray-like style — and when your pieces work double-duty, your space does, too.

4. UPPÅKRA Chaise Longue

A chaise longue in a joyful color, like this yellow, is a statement piece that shows confidence and intentionality.

The UPPÅKRA Chaise Longue works just as wonderfully as a standalone piece as it does as a module for the UPPÅKRA modular sofa, bringing elegance and a pop of fun color.

I'm particularly fond of the vibrant yellow-brown colorway, but it's also available in a range of colors, and you can choose between wood and chrome-plated legs to suit your space, too. You can also select the chaise with the armrest on the right, depending on your living room layout.

This stylish chaise longue adds a relaxed sophistication to a space, and with the removable and washable textured fabric cover, you needn't worry about stains and spills spoiling the look of your space either.

5. PÄRLHÄGG Vase

Yes, it works great as autumn decor, but it's also a piece that would be a worthy addition to a living room year-round.

With a solid 5-star rating already from its 13 reviews to date, the rich brown-red of the PÄRLHÄGG Vase hits on 2026's color trends, while also adding a contemporary, sculptural quality to any space. It also looks far more expensive than its £10 price tag — and I’m not alone in the sentiment.

“I will never spend an embarrassing amount on an everyday vase. And why should I when cool, stacked, glossy silhouettes like PÄRLHÄGG exist?," says home wellness writer Amiya Baratan. "At the risk of jumping ahead, it feels like an easy way to reset my home for autumn.

"Its elevation lies in its layered allure. And the best way to tell if a vase is worth it is to discern if it can sit all on its own. Whether you layer in abundant blooms, a single leafy stem, or strip it of any foliage, PÄRLHÄGG slyly catches attention. While I'd use something lower-slung for a coffee table, this is precisely the style of vase I'd prop on an accent table or a shelf.”

More Elevated Living Room Buys

If you're after more high-street buys with high-end vibes for your living room, I've selected six more pieces that are sure to elevate your space, without the big price tag.
