Sustainable living is a key theme at Livingetc. More than a trend, it’s a mission, and we’re constantly looking for ways to be kinder to our planet, by choice of material, closed loop production methods, or reducing energy consumption.
So we were delighted to learn about the new laundry range developed by Fisher & Paykel. Its sleek new WH1260F2 washing machine has clever features that can not only reduce energy and water consumption, they can save you time and care for your clothes to increase their lifespan, so you can love them for longer.
From silk dresses and seersucker shirts to cotton T shirts and denim shorts, your summer wardrobe staples will stay on point and in peak condition. With 26 programmes to choose from it’s quick and easy to select the right wash for your fashion favourites.
In fact, there’s even a Steam Refresh function that will bring lightly worn clothes and stored-away classics back to life and ready to wear again in 20-minutes, without the need for a full wash cycle. Even better, the steam reduces creases, so that’s less precious time spent ironing too.
It’s not just about delicates or a capsule wardrobe, the machine’s options include wash cycles for Heavy, Hygiene and Sports washes, so muddy kits - and even soft toys and trainers - are catered for, with 99.9% of bacterial baddies killed off, reducing allergens in the process.
Home textiles will stay looking good too, with washes from a planet-protecting 20 degree cycle (ideal for knitted blankets and wool throws that are to be stored away for a seasonal switch) to higher temperatures for fluffy towels - and even options for bulky items, such as duvets or pillows.
Of course, the most eco-friendly thing to do is wait for a full load. In fact, the washing machine’s ActiveIntelligence™ technology can determine the load size and soil level before dispensing the right amount of detergent and adjusting the wash time for over 1200 wash combinations, so you don’t have to.
Short on time? There’s a 15 or 30-minute wash and even a Quiet mode if you need to do a late launder - reducing the machine’s minimal noise even further. Its SmartDrive™ motor has fewer moving parts, making it more reliable, more energy-efficient and quieter than most, so it’s great for apartments and open plan living.
