Maxing out your space with under stair storage ideas, means more than creating a place to shove the ironing board, wellies and winter coats.
These spaces can be cleverly disguised too, as you will see from the under stair storage ideas ahead, so your hallway (opens in new tab) stays warm and welcoming.
This stylish under stair storage was designed by Andy Martin Architecture (opens in new tab). The tall panelled timber doors disguise a guest W.C. and ample cupboard space and follow through to a huge kitchen larder.
These super tall double doors max the under stair space here, utilising the height inside the cupboard for hanging coats, bags and shoes.
Architect David Money (opens in new tab) has maximised his under stair storage to create a utility area at the tallest end and further bike storage in the middle, all cleverly concealed behind linear plywood panelling and doors.
Architect John Eger of Eger Architects redesigned this staircase in oak, replacing what had been an area for a lift with a glazed lightwell, hung with new lighting. On the other side, tucked under the stairs is bespoke kitchen cabinetry.
BACK TO BASICS
In this home, the space under the stairs has been carved out for an extra W.C. as well as storage. Handy, for the family and visitors wanting to wash hands on arrival.
The flash of pink on the stylish stair runner (opens in new tab) and artwork inject personality into the hallway.
Seamless cupboards run under the stairs and are built into the walls, while a glass balustrade on one side of the stairs and light walls and floor keep the mood bright and airy.

The panelled door and wall lead to a tidy nook for hanging coats and bags.
Not so much under stair storage, as between stair storage. This bookcase cum staircase was designed by David Money Architects. (opens in new tab)
This ladder staircase is surrounded by huge potted plants creating an urban oasis.
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Robert Rhodes Architecture + Interiors (opens in new tab) were brought on board to better connect the home's living spaces to the garden. The stairs lead down to the kitchen and dining area at garden level.
