Believe it or not, this funky, timber-built home, originally resembled an English country cottage, with roses round the door, cosy
carpets and chintz furnishings. But once Rick Eckersley, a landscape architect, worked his magic, the bones of the tongue-and-groove house, a 90-minute drive from Melbourne, Australia, shone through.
Having done away with the furnishings and knocked down some interior walls, the structure and clean lines of the cottage take centre stage, especially the high, pitched roof.
One thing Rick was certain about was low-lying furniture so there would be no disruption to your line of vision. The colour inspiration for the
kitchen was the grey slate floor. But some elements do stand out, such as the central fireplace with its ultramarine chimney flue.
Take a room-by-room photo tour around Rick's Eighties-built bungalow to see how he's turned it from cluttered to cutting-edge.
