I was about to start listing endless designers but it ocurred to me that if you Google Famous Interior Designers you will have a very good starting point far more concise than I could rattle off the top of my head. Sorry but hope this helps if not I am happy to give you a few names?

Hi,
tried to google this before but mainly got furnish designers.
For interior designers I found names like 'Sister Parish', 'Dorothy Draper', 'Maison Janson'. The more modern one is obviously 'Terence Conran'. Any other ones to your knowledge?

Hi Claudia,

If you go to the link below you'll find a book of essays by designers on designers. Amazon has the search inside facility active on this book and if you go through the index you will find quite a few names which may be new to you. Googling any of these names will give you more info. Hope this helps!

Hi there, well you could look up Robert Adam, Charles Rennie Macintosh, Corbusier, Frank LLoyd Wright and William Morris. Today there are so many designers that are well known but I think your course will be wanting key players throughout history? In which case the most influential person of our time I think must be Philipe Starke. But look at David Collins, Tricia Guild, Marcel Wanders, Jan des Bouvrie, Kelly Hoppen, Nina Campbell, Terence Conran..... Can we include Lawrence LLewelyn Bowen???? No.
Hope this helps I will keep thinking.

kladoink- despite your help in locating my covated cushion i REFUSE take you seriously any more-- linda barker!!!!!! lol

What about the little scots bloke in a kilt oh and the boys we forgot the boys- Colin and Justin (how could i forget).

Seriously it would b really interseting to see the greats such as mackintosh and morris compared to some of the above, they seem so serious compared to some of the new kids on the block, apart from Stark of course (who i love dearly) who's prices are serious (but i agree worth it- why didn't i marry a rich man?)

Of course I bow at the altar of Colin and Justin! LOL! What heroes they are!

A few years ago I read Terence Conran's biog and found it fascinating. IMHO he has had such an influence on modern interiors, despite the fact that Habitat is now considered pretty much mainstream and Highstreet. I think that without his input interiors could be very different these days. Hmmm..I might have to dig it out and read it again sometime
