I've just reupholstered my first chair from scratch. It was in a sorry state having been originally upholstered in the 1890s (I found handwriting on the wooden frame!). The dust inside was like nothing I've ever seen before. I lovingly washed and re-used the horse hair and at my local upholstery class rebuilt the chair. I used old jeans to create a patchwork top cover. That was a challenge as I hadn't been on a sewing machine for about 20 years!!! My daughter is very happy with the results... and loves it that she can put things in the pockets!
I'm not sure how to add the photo, but here is the link... [image]http://www.flickr.com/photos/8179305@N02/4327550998/[/image]

That is amazing, well done I have a few projects under my belt, and this one is really something! Very hip! What did you use for the woodwork? Is it sprayed on? I had a similar idea for the woodwork on my french stool

Here you go:

It looks fab! Interesting suggestion to have painted the legs red; I think that would have looked good, too. But it's a terrific job, well done!

Thank you for adding the picture for me. How do you do it?
I agree on the red legs. In gloss would look great! You can't see it on the photo but the underneath of the chair has a red bottom! Traditionally it would have been black - but I thought red would be nice and quirky!
The silver legs are done with silver paint. It needed quite a few coats. I will try a spray paint next time.

That is great! I particularly like the red trim details and the red piping round the bottom, they give it a lift. You've done an amazingly good job, and I love the idea of the red bottom!Well done!
