What a busy start to the year. My OH and I have spent the last six months grafting to revamp our little flat, only now to decide we want a BIGGER project and are house-hunting once again. Eek!
Perhaps it was finally finishing this little number that tickled our feet somewhat. I'm awful pleased. Let me know what you think! And I'm so sorry for the ridiculously blurry pictures; apparently I have a ridiculously unsteady hand.

How we did it:
After a million trips to charity and antique shops in search of a coffee table with no success (because I'm so picky!), I decided to build it myself.
I went to a local salvage yard and within two minutes found a dirty, old tv unit with the lovely little divisions I'd been after. I detached a chunky bottom bit and painted the rest black,
I then added four of the largest castors I could get from B&Q.
The table top is just plain old planks that we burnt the heck out of on one side so they went really dark. We then turned them over for so some of the original colour showed mixed through the darkened scorch marks.
My OH sawed the planks to size and screwed a small piece across the underside of each end to secure. The table-top then just rested perfectly on top and I filled the inside with all our gubs!

It's lovely to make your own unique piece of furniture, especially when you use it every day! Brings a warm fuzzy feeling each time you use it I'll bet. Nice job and so practical! I particularly like furniture on castors! Gives a piece that chunky, substantial industrial look. Looks great on the hide rug too.

Really like that rough-hewn look and I'm a sucker for anything with lots of storage, so that ticks the boxes on both counts!
