My reading chair.
      #85651 - 13/01/2010 11:03

I found this cute chair at a car boot sale and snapped it up for a bargain £5. It was looking very shabby but I do love a challenge. I found the fabric at a charity shop and it is my favourite colour so I knew it had to the right choice. I have to admit it has taken me a while to get around to completing the project as I haven't any experience of upholstering and I was a bit daunted. I have been using the old fabric as a pattern and making it up as I go! I am really pleased with my new chair and it is now my reading chair.

Love the chair, nice start when inexperienced
Are you planning to treat the wood too? The reason I ask is because the fabric is so shiny, and the wood is somewhat aged, which is nice! Gives away the true age Maybe a good waxing would be sufficient

Anyhow I really nice catch, and for a bargain of £5 Bravo!

I think the wood looks fantastic! And you've done a brilliant job for a first attempt. Much better than I could do. What a great bargain and a gorgeous addition to your house.

OMG! Please don't do anything more to the wood. It looks gorgeous as is.

Well done Abs! You've made a very good job especially as you had make up the pattern. The wood looks fine- just a coat of good quality beeswax polish would enhance it. An heirloom I think!!

Well done - what a great effort. The stain of wood compliments the pale blue nicely.

Thank you for all your lovely words. It is quite daunting posting a first photo on here so I'm glad you like it. Have recently finished a decoupage beer label cabinet (very random I know!) so will post photos of this soon.
