I am in the middle of decorating my sitting room in our Georgian house. There was a bit of a stand-off between my partner and me about the lamps. While he preferred bare lightbulbs (...) I was all for buying a statement lampshade. As a compromise I eventually made my own designer lampshade.
[image]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2640/3686514523_8b5f1b1c2b.jpg[/image]
I cut out cardboard into squares (21 x 21 cm) and then folded them to a triangle. The triangles I then cut the following way:
[image]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3539/3687299642_4f068844a2.jpg?v=0[/image]
The triangle is then folded open and the square looks like this:

The "square strips" are then stapled together so that you get this:

Then I stapled 6 of those things together to form a circle. I repeated this with another set of 6 and attached them to the other circle.
The tops of the upper circle I punched holes in and pulled a strong wire through to give the lampshade structure and keep it in place.
The whole project took one afternoon to make. It looks great in my living room and cost me more or less nothing.

This is great, well done! - I used the same technique to make a Christmas star last December... rather than joining them together as you have, I joined the six shapes by their tips and hung it from a ribbon. Lovely with one-sided silver paper!
