Hi I live in the middle terraced section of a barn and want to change the downstairs flooring so that it is all the same in each room.
The downstairs is fairly open plan and airy, but not light as the only light source you have is the front door and back patio doors in lounge. When opening the front door you can see through to the back of the house to the sunny lounge, with other rooms off to the sides. I absolutely love wide oak planking but do you think if i run wide planking from front to back of the house it will make the space look narrower? It would run down a corridor/hallway (5ft wide), into a hall area (15 ft wide) narrowing again down a step to double glass oak doors and into the lounge beyond (17 wide).
I can't decide if fitting long plank flooring (because it matches the rustic look of the house) will either work very well running front to back or look awful....but can't afford an expensive mistake???? Running left to right is obviously not an option, despite it being the obvious option for the lounge at the back. Can anybody help? thanks in advance....sorry for such a long question.
