Hi all!
We live in an old Scottish farmhouse - 1 and a half stories. Which means that the upstairs are built into the roof, with dormer windows (except in my baby's room which is converted from an unused attic space - it has veluxes). Most walls are slopey. I am in the process of trying to add interest and personalise these rooms (our bedroom, my baby boy's and my 4 year old girl) but always think pictures will look silly - any ideas for decorating these walls?

Hi Leanne, I have a similar problem. Although, technically I really like my slopey walls so they're not really a problem. Agree that hanging paintins would look a bit odd.
You could put some adjustable ceiling recessed spotlights to shine down on to then. You can also buy LED halogen shaped bulbs that change colour via remote control to create some interesting mood lighting.
Alternatively, if you didn't want to channel a load of holes in your ceiling, Philips do some good remote controlled colour-changing interior floodlights that are dimmable. Also I think you can link them up to one another if you have more than one.

If you did see any posters you like, you could hang them using an old style bulldog clip in each corner. It would hold them well to the sloping wall and not look so out of place as framed pictures would on a slope.
I've also seen old-fashioned wooden trouser hangers used like this (the kind that clamps onto the trousers) and it looks great.

Small flags, bunting, garlands or mobiles would work: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=553...eller_usernames
I fancy making one of these - looks easy with a sewing machine: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title
Or what about wall vinyls / stickers (there's a huge number of different suppliers and designs to buy online so I haven't included any links), or maybe even 3d sculpture / masks? http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis...ncludes[]=title

Back in the 90s I hung up some nice fabrics on my sloped bed room wall - I still like to do it - can be an afforadable and temporary approach.

Metal wire secured at either end of the wall, bulldog clips and photographs/postcards/curios etc.
I've also seen vintage dresses used as decoration, which can look particularly lovely.

What about painting the whole wall with magnetic paint, and then overpainting with the colour of your choice. You can then attach postcards, prints, etc with colourful or pretty magnets.
Or alternatively mount one or more large framed clipboards to the wall at all four corners and pin interesting things to those.
There are nices one at Cox and Cox & Bombay Duck: http://www.coxandcox.co.uk/products/damask-notice-board http://www.bombayduck.co.uk/index.php?pa...&Itemid=585

Stencils? It sounds a bit naff and 80's - but if you found the right designs and colours it could look really good - I have been thinking about stencilling my daughter's name over her bed.
