mahogany problem....
      #70492 - 22/06/2009 00:11

Hello everyone. Wanted to know if anyone had any advice on painting a mahogany table and chairs. Definitely not my style as everything else in our house is light wood. Also had thought about experimenting with the finish of the paint e.g crackle effect etc. Any advice welcome

With a lot of patient work you should be able to paint yr furniture - just rub it down to give the new finish a chance to stick to a roughened surface, fill any dents/holes with 2-part filler then prime the whole surface, then undercoat twice! before adding the final finish coat.
if you get back to bare wood as much as you can the treatment detailed above will help the paint from not chipping away at the slightest [****]!
Good luck!
As for special finishing - get a good book on decorating techniques!
