Could anyone tell me the best place to get marimekko fabric - I want to use it for some curtain panels. I'm after the big red poppy design.

Hi Dickyryan,
I looked into getting some Marimekko fabric a few months ago but did not get as far as ordering. I chose something entirely different in the end.
I found the UK shop very useful for customer service and phoning for UK samples http://www.marimekko.co.uk/ They did not appear cheap to order from.
Is it the Unikko fabric? -http://www.marimekko.com/ENG/interior/fabric/maijaisola/unikko/frontpage.htm . If so i've seen it in places such as John Lewis & Selfridges. They all only seem to stock a very limited range of Marimekko though.
What I typically do with fabric is go into major shops to look at them and order samples. When I've bought fabric I use Adam at Discount Fabrics who are local to me in Manchester. He's always come up cheapest for me in the past and given spot on service, so I'd recommend giving them a chance to quote - though with Marimekko being on such limited distribution in the UK he might not have the contacts: http://www.discountfabrics.co.uk/1/

Presumably you've seen that stockists are listed on the Marimekko website. I called a few but many seem to not stock the fabric. http://www.marimekko.com/ENG/shops/searc...=&shopType=

Hi dr have you looked on ebay as I have seen people selling a couple of meters at a time, and that red unikko pattern is one of the best known, you might be lucky.

I take it you have been to the marimekko place just north of Bond Street and the Skandium basement in the Brompton Road
