Hi, I'm new here, but have been admiring the beautiful homes in the gallery - very impressed! We are about to move house and our new house needs quite a lot of work so I'm sure I'll be here a lot. It's a South London Victorian semi and we want to extend the kitchen into the side return with veluxes in the new roof and concertina glass doors at the back wall into the garden. If you have already had this done, could you give me an idea of what it cost, any recommendations for builders and also I'd love to hear your tips, how to manage the project, how long it should take and also if you have any regrets. Thanks so much

This month's LE has featured a really lovely Victorian renovation by Helen T (search for "victorian villa restoration" to see the pics on this site). We have just bought a house near that area and also need to do a lot of work, including extending out to the rear after demolishing the existing higgledy-piggledy conservatory. The pics of this house really helped me see what we might want to do with our place. She also mentions her builders (sorry I can't remember who they are, but she seemed to say they were great). You can also check out her blog, which is at helent.co.uk. Sorry if I am stealing her thunder - she is a forum member here - but her house is gorgeous and it's nice to see an "after" of that kind of house to aspire to.
Also check out the LE buying guides - in May they had a "Glass Solutions" section that covered skylights, folding/sliding doors, etc.
As I have not "been there done that" (YET) I will be watching this post hoping you get some good advice i can steal!

You should check out The London Kitchen Extension Company website....some great pictures of Victorian terrace side extensions small and big. I have not used them as I am in Bristol, however as we are about to extend into our side return it was great for inspiration. At the end of the day if you go with a company like them you will probably pay at least £15000-£20000 more than if you go down the route of managing it all yourselves....
