I'm going to ask my question in a different way... no one seems to be able to help!
Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a gas powered cast iron stove into a REAL wood burning stove?
It seems such a shame to take it out and go back to a log basket when I have a stove there...its just not warm enough with gas and its very expensive!

Simple answer - no!

Have you tried calling up a gas fitter to see if this is possible? Or a specialist fireplace/stove shop?
