I'm about to buy a cream kitchen, but I'm a bit lost about what colour to paint the walls and what colour tiles to use. The floor is terracotta reddy brown tiles and the surfaces will be dark walnut wood.
It's a south facing kitchen, but has a low ceiling with a large vaulted sky light. I've painted the ceiling white and that's done the trick on the airy front. Should I continue the white down the walls. Do white and cream really go???
Half of the kitchen is separated from the cupboards by a door opening and contains a table. The kitchen was painted Dulux yellow groove (lively orangey yellow) and I love the colour and tempted to keep it on the two walls in this area. Good move??
Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have any pics at all?
I have just painted my kitchen cupboards in a 'champagne' colour which is actually cream. My walls are a minty-vintagey green... which looks quite nice.

This sounds lovely. We're changing our worktops to walnut very soon!

i love pale grey with cream. It's very calming and brings out the richness of the cream. Would probably go quite well with the terracotta too.

Sorry bit of a delayed reply! I decided to continue the white down the walls, although paint can always be changed! Any thoughts about the white or yellow, let me know.
Now thinking about wall tiles. I'm completely taken by these green metro tiles; they are greener than the web picture suggests. They should in theory complement the terracotta floor tiles (which I've completely failed to get any decent photos of!)?

I think the green metro tiles, terracotta floor tiles, yellow walls, white walls and cream cupboards all in the same small space will look a bit of a mish mash. If you go for the green tiles, I would paint all the walls white and obliterate the yellow altogether. You could pick up the green of the tiles in some artwork or pottery hung on the yellow wall in your middle picture, to tie it all together.

And this is what it used to look like. Hectic!

The other option is cream or white metro tiles.
And just looking at the yellow wall on the screen with the green tile in front of me is making me feel slightly ill! If I did go for the green tiles, the yellow would have to go

I think the tiles would look very nice against the cream units, but I would keep the walls a similar cream to the units?
