Opinions please........
My boyfriend moved into my house a few months ago and since then we have argued about which of his pictures/prints are and aren't going up! He has a Warhol Triple Elvis print which he loves and I don't particularly (I would insert pic, but don't know how to, sorry, its on allposters.co.uk for ref) We're currently at a stand-off and he suggested we put it to livingetc to see what you all thought. Is it cool or not? Your opinions please... thanks

This is the picture:
Personally I'm not keen. But I guess it really depends on your decor style and whether it fits in with that. I think its the sort of thing I'd expect to see in a single man's room, along with a computer and a set of weights

How big is the print? I have a double elvis print which I love for its kitchiness but admit it's pretty common now. Its only about 2' square framed so I plan to put it on the landing with another pic where its not too obvious. Can you hide yours somewhere?!

Do you mean this one??....

Personally I love Warhol! BUT his work can look a bit "obvious". We have three "Querelle" movie posters which have the same image on each but in different colours and we love them.
I think it depends on where you put it and what the rest of the decor and furniture is like. Also does it have "Andy Warhol The Warhol Collection" written along the bottom??? If it does I would cut ot off so that it doesn't look too "posterish".

I'm glad you're not offended Lozza! Its funny, there's a house for sale up the road from us, was looking at the details on rightmove the other day, and that poster just reminded me of it... it would fit right in in their living room, complementing the huge black leather sofas, rowing machine in the bay window and enormous telly on silver melamine stand

BTW, I love Warhol too. But not this one. I like his colour stuff much better - but Griffo's right, some of it can look very "obvious" and I think I associate it with the 1980s as I used to have a Warhol self portrait poster in my room at uni.

Oooh lots of posts appeared while I was posting and got sidetracked on the phone! I had the same image siane! That's why I said about cutting the type off the bottom because it makes it look like a cheap 80's Athena poster!

No, of course I'm not offended. It just reminds me of those Ikea posters where if you walk in someones house, you can tell instantly its from Ikea. I did suggest he could have a shed at the end of the garden and put it in there, in fact he could do what he likes in there - he didn't go for it tho! I'm just loathed to put it up and I don't have anywhere to hide it away

You could always agree to go poster shopping together to choose an alternative that you both like instead - or is that likely to lead to even more arguments?!

Lozza, when The OH and i moved in together, i warned him that he would have to give up all rights to any interior design oppinions and just nod and look happy when i brought home anything for our house. I got rid of pretty much anything he had in his place and anything sentimental of his, is in a box far far away in the attic. He excepts that if he wants to live with me then he has to let me have my way where our house is concerned. You could gently ask him if he loves the poster more then he loves living with you? lmfao

Somehow, I don't think I'd get away with that, plus he pays halves on some things! However, it was his idea to put the question on here and one of us was always going to lose, looks like its him this time, ha, ha. Don't suppose we can make every decision in our lives via Livingetc can we?

You could always let him blue-tac it to the wall, saying its just a temporary measure to see if you can live with it, then instigate some hot sex during which it would 'accidentally' get ripped. That way he probably wouldn't mourn its loss.

I love the deviousness of it - genius! Although, he'd think there was something up with me behaving like that all of a sudden, afterall we live together now, isn't all that supposed to all stop?!

I think that's what my ex boyf thought - one of the reasons i'm now single! What's the point of putting up with someone else's hideous taste if you're not reaping all the benefits of having them around

LOL edenrose!!! A woman after my own heart! I have got rid of everything that my partner David owned!!! He said to me recently "I don't have a say in anything in this flat do I" and I said "Correct...I thought you would be used to that by now!"

count you lucky stars, my other half has a poster of shaggy holding scooby doo (and it's a big poster) which he keeps asking if he can put up and I keep saying 'maybe soon dear'.
That's worked for 10 years now, but I'm not sure how much longer I can keep stalling him.
p.s. I'm not keen on the elvis poster

I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one!! My OH is fine to leave most things to me, he regularly comes home to find the walls have changed colour! The one thing he has out his foot down about are his posters - before we got married and bought our new house he had a thing about vintage movie posters. We have three of them here and I cant bring myself to put them on the walls. I dont dislike them, they just dont fit our new house. I sometimes do a sneaky post on gumtree for his old things, but we would be talking divorce if i did that to his posters. I would risk it but we only got married in September!!
