Open planning advice please!!!!!!
      #67402 - 29/04/2009 11:43

Hi all,

Desparately need dome advice on my open plan room. Our lounge, dining room and kitchen is open plan in a L shape .If you can imagine the kitchen faces the dining room which is a bit too open for my liking. I would like to put up a custom made partition which would have to sit on the kitchen work top similar to this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6108896/Trail/searchtext>ROOM+DIVIDER.htm. The spaces would not necessarily be the same size and I would want some glazing in some of the spaces. I would really welcome your thoughts on my/your ideas?
Thx

What about installing a concertina-style glazed door, that could lie flat against the wall when not in use, yet can be pulled across as a screen when needed? That way you wouldn't lose valuable worktop space...

Hi

For a quick and cheap fix - or until you find what you really want - perhaps you could span a shower curtain rail across the expanse (the type that fixes with tension as opposed to having to drill any holes)? Then hang a nice floaty fabric from it, to get this type of effect: Sanderson Hotel photo gallery (scroll down pictures to the right of the page)

Look forward to seeing the pictures of your space.

Sarah

Wow, what beauftiful images. I need to save up to go for a drink there! Funnily enough I was in Digress (Wine bar) last night and each 'drinking' booth was separated by pewter metal beaded curtains which looked quite stunning. I now need to try and find these somehow. Many thanks

Also sounds like a cool solution.

Maybe just contact someone at Digress directly to ask where to get those pewter metal beaded curtains? They'll hopefully be able to help you.
