OK - feeling brave.
I bought this little studio in 2005 and did it up before I moved in... Don't have many before pictures, but think you can see the general dingy-ness!

Was a pretty long refurb job as *everything* needed to be replaced, even basics like the boiler and radiators... plus all the fun stuff like the floor, kitchen and furniture. Was pretty tricky finding things that fitted within the space (especially bathroom fittings). A lot of stuff was custom built (kitchen cupboards) as standard sizes just didn't fit. Also - we built in lots of storage for hiding away all the junk.

I'm actually about to re-do the interior of the flat and I'll definitely try and put a proper sofa in this time plus the bathroom sink (not pictured) is just too small (a cloakroom basin - rubbish).
Anyway - thought I'd share before I change it all again!

Hannah, it looks absolutely beautiful - I especially LOVE the stairs, but it's hard to see much detail as I can't enlarge the pics. Any chance of reposting them larger? x

Hello Hannah - it looks gorgeous and you have managed to fit so much in to such a small space... I can't believe you even have a dining table! Can't wait to see what you do with it next - what are you going for?

Thanks for the link, Vicky! As I said, Hannah, it's glorious. I love the glass wall to the mezzanine, too! It looks so well designed which I guess it had to be!

Oh it is fabulous, I love it. The table in the window is perfection. I love the stairs, and also the glass. Where is it, it looks quite West London out the window to me??

Yes - that rotten picture that is now a staple in EVERY home. Bought that years ago and fed up of looking at it now! The stairs were designed by my Dad (he'll be SO proud you think they're good!) and randomly were made by a boat builder out in Essex...

I think this is so inspirational. Who would have thought you could define an open space so effectively with such a stylish and eclectic mix. WINNER
BTW one of the big Design Blogs is having a small space competition and you should enter - cannot remember which one but I am sure one of my learned friends will enlighten you.

HSC, fantastic use of space. I love the stairs and the mirror/picture combo too. Always wanted a mezzanine...I can dream.
I think the design blog might be Apartment Therapy btw.

What a lovely place... looks so bright and airy. Loving your art deco mirrors mixed with pictures (I've got about 12 sitting on the floor at home and still indecisive about how to put them up in our new place).
As for the keep calm poster... have to admit I have two (the original and a green screenprint version) and I love them both but there is something a tad disconcerting about seeing them everywhere! I blame the credit crunch! (It gets the blame for most things nowadays!)

Its not Bow Quarter is it? The layout looks so similar to the apartments there, although much better decorated

Very impressive, such good use of a small space. Your remark about that sofa has got me thinking, I am sure you could fit one in now :-)
