Hi Everyone!
Thought I'd post some images of my recently completed bedroom.
I'd always wanted a dark, sophisticated, hotel style bedroom and struggled with trying to achieve this in a modern new build. The room was too much of a blank canvas it seemed an overwhelming task.
My inspiration came from a pair of black glass chest of drawers I picked up on eBay which act as oversized bedside tables. Then I had the soft furnishings made after I finally made my mind up and went with a selection of Romo fabrics - velvets for the dress curtains, headboard, throw and valance and silk damask for the giant roman blind.
Last weekend me took the plunge and painted one wall in a very dark grey/brown to accentuate the height of the room and to darken it - it has two velux windows, a wide window, a full length window and light coming in from the ensuite so could take such a dark colour.
Then yesterday I finished it off with the four large black box frames (Ikea) using my favourite wallpaper inside. Originally I planned to paper the wall in this and had a large scrap of this blu-tacked to the wall for a couple of months until I decided that it would be too much pattern along with the blinds.
Have attached a couple detail shots of the curtains and my new lamp (bargain form TK Maxx!)
Would love to hear what everyone thinks!!

Thanks everyone!! If I had cheaper taste in fabric it wouldn't have cost so much! The rest of it was relatively inexpensive (considering!)
It is much cosier now, don't want to get out of bed in the mornings! (where's the room service?!) :0)

Lush. Clever idea on your window wall! Fixig that curtain pole so high up changes the whole feel. What colour paint did you go for - can't quite tell on my rubbish screen?

Thanks Beag!
The dark wall is a very dark grey brown. The rest of the walls are White. The ceiling is vaulted to a high point so the dark wall accentuates it quite well.
The only place we could position the bed was below the window so I used the tall curtains and blind to create a oversized headboard effect. There is also a radiator under the window, so we had a custom made headboard / radiator cover made also. Nice in the winter as it warms the bed up!!
Quite an awkward room really, and small for a main bedroom but there are always ways to work round these things!

I hope you don't mind me contacting you. I’m working on a new tv series for ITV called House Gift and I saw your post on this forum and thought I'd ask you to see if you might be interested in taking part. The concept of the programme is that three experts descend on an ordinary home and compete to choose an antique, painting or object d’art that will win a permanent space in the heart of the household. They each have very different budgets and the homeowner chooses which gift they would like to keep but they don’t know who’s bought which item or how much each item’s worth. That won’t be revealed until after they’ve made their choice.
I'm looking for people to be involved in the show and was wondering if you would be interested. If so, please email me at laura.harding@itv.com with your contact details and we can have a further chat - no obligations! If not, no worries, I thought I'd ask just in case. Many thanks, Laura.
