Hello, here are some pictures of our bedroom makeover. This is are first owned home and we moved in almost a year ago. We decided to start with the bedroom, it used to be a small awkward shaped room and a narrow hall leading to the bathroom. So we took down the wall to open it out and replaced the ceiling. Thank God for the help of my brother! Our next project is the bathroom, so watch this space! Gem & Pete

Well done on a great makeover! I love that Orla Kiely wallpaper, where did you get it from and was it expensive? I've been admiring the chair that's available in the same fabric as your paper, its been in several magazines recently (Livingetc included).

Thankyou x We got the wallpaper from the Orla Kiely store in Covent Garden. It cost £60.00 per roll. Luckily we only needed to buy 2 rolls. I imagine the chair you are talking about costs a fortune but i think Orla fabric will be on sale soon, can't wait to make some cushions! Gem x

What a fantastic job you've done. The floor looks lovely and I love the wallpaper and the ceiling light.
Looking forward to seeing the bathroom.

Well done Gem & Pete - a lovely room. Kirstie Allsop would be proud of you what with knocking walls down to make a bigger space! I love the wallpaper which really compliments the dark wood floor. Also love the details like the chunky rad and the book recess. Is the pile of magazines going to be a permanent bedside table? If so, what a great way to put all those interiors mags to good use! Oh and the BIG question (and a popular topic on these forums) what colour white did you use on the walls??

You've done a fab job and magazines are perfect bedside tables, keep on stacking! Look forward to seeing the bathroom...I can see lovely trees outside the window so hope you don't have to put in frosted glass.

The bedroom is fantastic Gem and Pete, When you finish this house maybe Grand Designs will be next! You have a good eye and excellent taste 10/10. Lucky you have a talented brother to help.

Fab bedroom! Also love the Orla wallpaper, it really makes the room... and i have an Orla purse! Can you remember did they have any other colours?
I am well & truly stuck for magazine storage and this is a fantastic solution as i also have no bedside tables....!
Enjoy your room Biba

Hi Biba,
The wallpaper is only available in that colour. There are other designs and I love her cushions.

Hiya, We are also in the middle of massive renovation like yours - our 1st house too. How long have you been working on it - we are 1 year in now, but almost done - finally!
I must say I also really like your book recess - very clean. One question what colour did you stain your floorboards or is it varnish? It looks really rich. :-)

Just want to join the choir of praise and say well done - a really nice and bright room! I am interested to hear what you have done to the floor as well, a really nice colour.

That bed doesn't work and the poster is a little naff (seen it sooo many times). Like OK wallpaper though. Might give you a headache after a few weeks. What about one of these from Village in NY http://vllg.com/products/Village/Villageposter_deluxe/. Film poster are so last century darling, unless they are originals.
