      #38502 - 30/07/2008 13:36

Hi Everyone

I thought you all might be interested in this website Vunk

There are many designs that would look great in any room in the house. Keep checking back as new designs are added daily.

Thanks for looking and I hope you find something you like.

Kind Regards

Craig

Hi Craigj

Are you going to introduce yourself? We get a bit sceptical on here about people who post an recommendation the very first time they post (and in your case, the same day they register).

If you're have a business interest in the website be upfront and tell us. Please.

Actually, don't bother. Had a look at the "about us" section on the website. I see that it is you. But it would be nice if you said.

"Vunk was founded by Craig Jenner who comes from a sucessful background of 7 years in the Design and Signmaking Industry. Fed up with following the rules of traditional signmaking and looking for a way to use the materials he had in new ways, he had the vision to merge signmaking with interior design and home consumer products."

Hi mrs evans

Thanks for your reply.

I was just trying attract a few like minded people to the site and didnt try to hide the fact that it was mine. I appologise if this was the wrong way to go about it and I should have introduced myself better.

I can understand why you are a bit sceptical but if you would like me to answer any questions about the products I will do gladly.

Thanks again

Craig

Hello!
I am a livingetc subscriber and have been for many years. I have regularly browsed the forums for nearly two years now and I see this issue come up again and again.
I understand that people may be fed up with sellers touting for custom on this forum but the response to posters is often very hostile.
I think it was quite clear from the initial posting that this guy made that he was involved in the company. He didn't seem to be hiding anything to me.
I fully expect a torrent of angry emails as a result of this post and as I am sure you will all point out I have never bothered posting a comment before but to be honest I feel a little intimidated by some of the responses!
I doubt anyone will beleive that i don't have an agenda here but frankly I don't really care!
Come on everyone - be a little nicer
You might get more people dipping their toe in to LE waters!

Hi wendy
I totally agree. personally I dont see a problem in it! Obviously there is the odd fake bag post?? but if its home related and got me looking at a site I may not have found then thats great!which is what i thought this was all about??
I know if I set up a small business selling home stuff I'd come on here and mention it? why not? I come on here at least once a week and the more websites I hear about the better(thats what i like, finding items not available on the high street) Some people have a link to their own website but it seems to be ok if you have posted numerous times, as i said before if it were selling hairdryers it would be inappropriate but I come on here to get tips/advice etc and if I can browse through sites i may not have heard about then all the better.
I think its a bit sad and very unwelcoming that people come on here and have to really justify recommending a site if they have only made a couple of posts! I dont make many posts unless Im really struggling to find something but that doesnt mean Im not entitled to recommend a site/shop I have found that is good just in case Im somehow 'linked' to the site and besides so what if I were? I didnt realise there was a living etc 'posting police' and if there were I presumed that job would be left to the moderaters.

To perhaps clarify, can I just quote from the forum rules?

"Registration as a User implies acceptance of the following terms and conditions:

We do not tolerate:
4) spamming - please do not post the same message in several forums and under no circumstances post messages with advertising messages or those seeking commercial gain of any kind.

Special note on signatures and user pictures

a) Please place one hyperlink only in signature lines.

b) commercial links are tacitly allowed in signatures only (they contravene forum rules but if you are subtle about it we will exercise a certain use of Nelson eye patch).

c) we ask for return links as a common courtesy - if you cannot link to www.livingetc.co.uk (or one or more of our magazine sites if you prefer) from your site then please leave the link off your signature."

And from the website's User Terms and Conditions:

"6. Your Responsibilities
...You agree that you will not use the Web Site or any of the Web Site Services as follows:

• for any purposes connected to any business, including sending any unsolicited advertisements or promotional material"

I realise that sometimes forum users sarcasm when posting in relation to this may seem harsh or unfriendly to a newcomer. I do think people are generally prepared to tolerate genuine forum users making recommendations for things with which they have some connection, as long as they make their connection explicit. Much better than not mentioning it and promoting your commercial interest in one of your very first posts. And the forum moderators can't be expected to police every post all of the time - they need people to point things out to them for the forum to function effectively.
Personally, I'm glad that people are protective enough of the forum to ensure that it is not overrun with spam in the guise of "personal recommendations". It means that we can all have a bit more faith in the recommendations that are posted on here, which can only be a good thing surely?

I think the post may have been absolutely okay if it was in the "Buy and Sell" section rather than the insider info
The "Insider Info" to me is if a customer has found a web site and it showing the rest of the world about it

I have nothing to sell but I need a signature - so here it is

me thinks its all taken a bit too seriously!
My reply wasnt about this one incident its happened on here on many occasions.I just chose to respond to it this time.
How I see it when you're new to a site one of your first posts may actually recommending a site, what better way to join a community than sharing your own knowledge, however that very thing seems to irritate people and can result in a mild interrogation. who are you? etc which clearly can make new comers feel very unwelcome.
As far as Im aware its a public forum not an exclusive group.
I agree spam posts can be a nuisance but I dont need rules recited to me to just decide to ignore them.
And just for the record I do read through most of the site. I just personally find some parts more interesting and relevant than others.
I am not pinpointing anyone as guilty I was just observing the other side of posters who may post more sporadically than regulars.
Ive not intended to annoy anyone but if I have than feel free to respond on this thread as I dont tend to read posts on some of the other parts of the forum and so wont be able to respond.

Thanks
P.s Besides I have even checked out the fake bag spam..but its all s**t anyway

Nah, it's all harmless enough, I would just personally prefer it if people promoting their own products made that clear.
Though even that does sound like it contravenes the website rules (must admit I'd never read the rules before - thanks for pointing them out Siane).

I generally agree with you lisablythe, I like people to recommend things too, its part of why I come on here. And its even better when you know that the recommendations are genuine. That doesn't mean that other sites aren't worth a look too, just that I like to know when I'm reading a genuine personal recommendation and when I'm looking at an advert. I merely mentioned the forum rules to show that this doesn't only come from unfriendly or "exclusive" motives, but is part of the rules to protect all the forum's users, however frequently or sporadically they may choose to post.

A word to the wise.....
Do NOT order from Craig Jenner's 'vunk' wall sticker website. I placed an order approx. 3 weeks ago and I paid instantly through Paypal. He claims on his site that delivery time is 3-5 business days...I'm still waiting. I emailed him last week to ask for a progress update and he chose to ignore me.
I've now raised a dispute with Paypal to recover my money from this thief....BEWARE!!!!

Thanks for the warning Clardie.
I understand that you must be severely P'd off about this but I suspect your post might be potentially libellous in this age of political correctness.
You might want to contact the LE moderator and ask them to change 'thief' to something like 'scumbag' (not sure that anyone could provide a court with proof that they're not a scumbag! )

Hi
I also ordered a sticker from vunk.co.uk. When I received it some of the pattern is missing. I have tried to contact them by phone and email and have had no reply from either. I have sent it back but still no joy. I will now have to raise it as a dispute with paypal. BEWARE Do not use them you may end up with a sub standard product or nothing at all!

Paypal is a good route to go through, assuming that Vunk have funds that they can get their hands on. If you used your credit card to pay then your credit card issuer may be able to help you, depending on how much you spent. Also try trading standards. Even if they can't help with something then they may at least stop anyone else getting fleeced.

Good luck getting your money back.

So hateful that vunk would come on here to flog their wared and then let their customers down so badly.

I am an interior designer and have used this company for wall stickers... http://www.wallstickers.ie/
They are based in Ireland but have great service and fantastic quality, I even have one in my own house!
