Yes, I would like to say that we are finished - however as we lost our very steep lovely 70's concrete drive when we landscaped the garden you would now need a crane to get a car in the garage! In the next few years we would love to build a garage in the drive area and convert the existing garage to another room. We don't really need the room yet so there is no hurry and I don't actually think we could face the mess etc just yet! We have done every room now in the house and all the gardens - this summer I am going to enjoy it all - glass of wine in hand looking over the water!(pretending I'm abroad and not in Scotland!!

Hi Tracy - I love your house. Great, modern feel and the Days Forum sofas look great. I wanted them for my flat but had to go for the Scala range due to space restrictions. Also love your dining room chairs - would you mind telling me where you got them? Also, how about some more photos of other rooms? Best wishes L

Hi Tracy

What a lovely and fresh looking home you have. I always envy people who can go for the real sleek modern shapes. I would love to work on a more modern house and get it out of my system. Unfortunatley our home doesn't really lend itself to this style, but I do love it.

Please put some more pics on. You must show off all your hard work!

H

Thanks for your comments - the dining chairs are from Habitat - Palocco or something. I wanted to try something a bit different from the matching set to the table. Slight problem for the kids though as they are probably 2cm too low and they need a cushion! I am working at putting other photos on - I am a bit nervous because I think our house is quite ordinary compared to some of the sleek contemporary pads and gorgeous townhouse! Our style is kind of modern with a coastal twist! Tracy

Isn't it funny when you live in a house you always desire trying out a different style? Your townhouse is fab ! In fact I am sure I've seen it in magazines. Our House was build in the early 1970's and with 3 kids I had a desire to live in a trendy loft pad (no chance!) so this "upside down house" was the next best thing. All the living space upstairs is open plan and the views across to Edinburgh are fabulous. Having your kids downstairs is great (wood floors and no more screaming to stop them thumping about). Of course it was all lime green artex, pine clading, dodgy electrics (and hundreds of other problems) and an unuseable garden 18 months ago.

Here (if it works) are some more pics [image][/image] [image][/image] [image][/image] [image][/image] [image][/image] [image][/image]

OK, now you have made me green with envy! The space, the light, the furniture, the outside space, the views!!!! I love the wooden stairs and funky rad at the bottom. Your house definitely deserves to be on this forum and I am sure you will get lots of positive replies. I am also in a modern place but I bought from new so haven't had to do any work - hence not posting any pictures as I feel a bit of a fraud! Also my lounge is about as big as your TV area! Well done on what has oviously been a major transformation in a short space of time.

What a fantastic house! Weirdly enough, the view of the front looks really really like my sister's place in Australia!

The views are particularly stunning and the furniture that you've chosen fits so well in the space. I've always thought that I didn't like modern properties, but yours is so light and lovely that I think I might be coming round!

Many thanks for your comments. Magazine? I wish!

Your place makes me want to go on holiday. It does look a bit like something like the houses on Neighbours from the front, so I can relate to the Australian comment.

It is all fab. Love the stairs. I don't know how you can call it ordinary. All the pics are great.

Well done, it is really lovely!

Your house is lovely, it is so light, bright and homely. on looking there is nothing that i dont like. i am looking for ideas for my hallway as that is the only thing that i have left to do, are your stairs noisey with having just wood on them?? and so much easier to clean than vacuuming a stair carpet.

you must be very proud

with regards

kirstie

Thanks everyone for all your comments. I think some 70's houses do look a bit like they could be abroad so it does help - we also got rid of the wood cladding/fyfestone and had the house smooth rendered in white(like you get in Spain etc)and we are probably more proud of the outside as it is a massive change. Re the stairs - they were originally open plan pine carpeted treads and we wanted to box it in to have lights going up the stair. We don't think the stairs are noisy, they are dead easy to clean and will save a fortune in hall carpets! Tracy

Hi Tracy,

Your home is fantastic, so summery & fresh, i love all the hints of blue. The outside looks great, i really like the style of house and the layout inside too.

The view just tops it all off nicely! You lucky person you

Hi Tracy...You've created a wonderful looking home - and in a wonderful location! Well done! It looks fantastic!

I totally agree with Ralphmalph's comments... It is very Huf-Haus - If it had more glass, it would be one! I have a soft spot for those, I have to say!!

I think you've done a great job - It's great to drag dated houses in to the 21st century.. and you've done so with flying colours!

Aside from the exterior shot, have you got any more before photos?

A huge pat on the back to you though - It looks like a lot of hard work has gone in to your project!

Take care

LUCY xxx

What an amazing transformation of the outside and inside.

I live in sunny scotland too and move from my 2 bed flat to a 4 bed house in June and I can't wait - you have given me so much inspiration!

Just wanted to be one of the first to say CONGRATULATIONS on being the February winner!!! It is a very well-deserved win and you have given plenty of us inspiration with your fresh and modern, but very real, home. Well done and hope you enjoy your new chair! Best wishes Lisa
