The Refurb, Part II
      #11379 - 08/09/2007 18:17

Here's the garden and the bathrooms.

1) PATIO NEXT TO DINING ROOM

2) VIEW FROM END OF THE GARDEN

3) BATHROOM This room used to be the way out to the garden. Hard to photograph as it's so tiny, only about 2.5m x 1.3m.

4) SHOWER ROOM This used to be the only bathroom. We put in a 1200 x 800 shower instead. It's directly over the bathroom the same size.

OOOh Tara it's just beautiful, such a joy to see all those painstaking extra touches like your lighting and the niches. Going to look now at Part 3.......

Well, thank *you* cj for all your help with the bathrooms. Your idea for the DIY mirror cabinet was brilliant and stonehousetiles was an excellent supplier.

Wonderful bathroom and shower room!
Please could you let me know the size of the sink in the bathroom. We are after a small one as we are doing up our tiny bathroom. Even tho' the rooms are small you've made them look very spacious!
Great work!

thanks roma, if you mean the squareish one next to the bath, it's from Aston Matthews http://www.astonmatthews.co.uk/index.asp?id=9 and I will have to measure it later today as I've forgotten (and it's not on the website).

Here's a couple of better photos of the shower room.

That shot looks not dissimilar to the shot on June's living etc! You know the one with the stylist in pink but less pretentious! Lovely, well done I love the Eucyliptus contrasting v nicely with the grasses.....

I like the way you did the lighting in the bathroom - how did you do the light on the shelf thingy or is that a renovators secret?

No secret, Ying. It's just a waterproof strip light with a made to measure piece of sand-blasted (toughened) glass on top (blasted side down). It's a surprisingly soft and flattering light.

One final touch still to come is a mirror above the shelf, which I think will bring the whole thing to life.

Interesting spelling of Eucalyptus CJ! Chalky downs worked a treat is it this white or a bit more grey?

Hi Tara

Well done. What a transformation, it looks amazing and will get snapped up v quick I would imagine!

Can I ask what the tiles in the garden are called and where they are from, they look great, I am looking for an alternative to my nasty concrete slabs in my garden and these look fab

Thanks

Hi Lozza, the paving slabs are from here http://www.dtstone.co.uk/index.php?tg=articles&idx=More&topics=31&article=39 Nice company to deal with, delivery was a bit slow the second time I ordered but still less than a week.

NB they are not calibrated which means the thickness varies a bit, so it's more work to lay them. Also bear in mind that cement will add to the total cost - I don't know how necessary it is to lay with cement but it uses TONS of sand.

Afterwards we cleaned them with Lithofin products (can't remember which one now) and added a coat of Colour Intensifier http://www.extensive.co.uk/product.php/16/0/

Looking fantastic Tara - I keep peeking to give me hope that, one day, we too will be finished.

Rupert is starting our storage next week - not a moment too soon as we moved in last week and the temporary clothes rails are already sagging.

BTW I love the hydrangea (sp?) - it looks fantastic against the slate.
