I've long been a lurker and an avid reader. Finally finished most of the rooms in our humble house of horrors. It’s been 4 years in the making (We started with the garden first) and in the past 6 months have been able to do the fun stuff after years of putting right a truly awful ‘development’ by the previous owner. Its nothing cutting edge but, whenI see the “before” photos, it makes me want to squeal with happiness! 1. Lounge - origanally this was the dining room. The joists were rotten, windows rotten, ceiling anaglypta - and the four walls anaglypta - with an innovative different pattern on each wall! and after: The Kitchen.... We lived with what had been a new kitchen when we bought the house... We just retiled the walls and floor.. I loved the floor so didn't change it when we had teh new kitchen fitted. But (un)luckily the boiler packed in and we were able to move it into the out-house. We took down the chimney (from roof downwards) and had a great space. Used the left over work surface to make shelves and got a recycled train luggage rack for storage. The clock that I would have sold my soul for.... This was our old lounge (we decided to swap the rooms) and it's now the dining room. My other half has kept every gig ticket he's ever been to... He started when he was 13 and I framed them for his birthday (There are 6 of these buggers!!!) Bedroom before (including Xmas stockings ![]() And after... And I couldn't resist putting a couple of the garden in. It had been used as a vegetable patch for 30 years. I cleared it and started from scratch. I've no photos from this year as it was full of rubble and by the time we'd cleared it all, there was no summer. The newer pics are from last year. After: (With my pal in staring role) And a view from upstairs Still things to do yet with the house but I've been dying to have something to post. Lucy x |
