Re: anyone buy an eames lounger on ebay???

I wouldn't recommend buying from ebay (and if it's Modern Classics Direct then run a mile). The repro designer market is awash with really lousy sellers all offering 6 month+ delivery times and/or damaged or substandard goods on arrival, and failure to refund.

I can however recommend Design Classics. Have bought from them myself, and because they are part of a larger group supplying furniture for landlords (which is how I found them) - http://www.davidphillips.co.uk/home.php - they have a far more professional approach and hugely faster delivery than most if not all competitors in this area. You can visit the showroom to see the goods, and they refund without quibble.

If you do decide to go the ebay route, it is vital you pay them with a credit card (NOT debit card) as that way you can claim your money back from the card company if they fail to deliver or the goods are damaged and they won't refund.

And read this post first which is just one of many on the subject
