My thread 'has Living Etc started to look a bit like Elle Deco?' brought up the suggestion that quite a lot of people would like to see a 'Reader's Homes' issue, perhaps featuring some of the homes that have appeared in this website - leave a post if you'd like to see that too equally leave a post if you don't want to see that.

I would like to see a Readers Homes issue too, but not just any old readers homes for the sake of it, nice inspiring ones!

Yes, me too, or alternatively one reader's home per issue, maybe a couple of pages with one room, rather than a big spread of the whole house? Could be more achievable/realistic, considering how many of us seem to have half-finished homes!

Here here I would love to see a reader's home issue but not just 'wealthy'readers with huge spaces but normal people who cannot afford certain designer pieces but still have great homes nonetheless

Would be fantastic. Also agree with Tara that one per issue would be good. Maybe each month's winner of "See my Home" could get a two page spread (though a few months after winning), most would probably view that as a greater prize than a Habitat voucher.

Agree with Tara, I'd prefer a few photos rather than a whole house spread, and one per issue rather than a whole magazineful at once. Also agree with FoxyBrown - not just huge mansions, but some "normal" sized places please.

it would exclude too many good candidates who might not have won only because there was stiff competition that month, some winners might not want to be in the mag or they might not live there anymore, etc.
it could also make the judging less impartial...i.e. LE would be thinking not just in terms of which is best this month, but also 'oh we've had a bathroom a bit like that already so this one can't win'...

I think it sounds like a brilliant idea. I love looking at the homes people have put on here and it would be great to see some before and after pics in the magazine. especially how people have overcome awkward spaces etc.

Yes, I want to see how real people live - ones without tonnes of money to throw around, ones with real clutter or wires showing or whatever, and the real solutions they came up with in real budgets!

Sounds cool. Would live to see more normal people's homes. I believe Liz Hurley calls them "civilians".

Dear Living Etc ( is suspect you will be reading this at some point-if only to make sure we are all behaving!) Please take note of all the above comments. I have just received my latest LE, and although I love the mag, each of the houses are either architecturally designed, owned by glamorous fashion designers etc. Yes it is lovely to look at these houses but I would love to look at the houses created by those who get on their own hands and knees stripping paint off the skirting boards, what i mean is people like myself. Yes it is nice to drool at the £300000 renovations or the showers with champagne in them ( i ask you!) but it doesn't feel rewarding to me- just empty. Can I please suggest that you lose the London Etc part of your mag, which over time has brought up many a discussion (i am bored of it now- there is more to interiors than London) and utilise those pages to display a readers home- like you used to! All the above people can't be wrong now can they?
