The fabulous clock designed by Irving Harper for George Nelson Associates...
The popular story goes that the Ball Clock was designed by Buckminster Fuller, Isamu Noguchi, Irving Harper and George Nelson during a night of drinking in 1947. However, Harper has claimed it was his design alone.
The dispute over creditation may be because Nelson preferred pieces to be known under the company name, but in any case, the clock was part of a company-wide drive to reinterpret household items, and bring modern design straight into American homes, when the American Dream was at its peak.
This re-edition by Vitra is true to the original, with identical dimensions, finish and colour.
